TheLegendOfMart
I was umming and ahhing over getting a 3DS and after looking at the calibre of games compared with cost I decided against it. I have a PS3 for the latest titles and I was looking for something I can use to play games from my childhood, which imo was the golden age of video games 80s/90s. I want something I can play games from gameboy all the way up to n64, I looked at getting a PSP but it struggles with n64 games, there are a few chinese/korean handhelds such as the Cannoo, Wiz, etc.. but I want something a bit more powerful than the generic 500-600Mhz ARM cpus that power most of these handhelds. I did also look into playing them on my phone but I spent a good 3 hours trying to get my dual shock 3 pad paired with my phone but it was a pain and using my phone isnt very useful as the battery life drops dramatically and theres no way to comfortably put the phone and use joypad to control. Whichever device needs to have the power to play n64/ps1 games, I don't want to spend any more than ?150/200 for a really good device. Does anyone have any devices or any ideas as to which device would be best? Just to add, it doesnt need to be android, I don't care which OS it runs. TheLegendOfMart
Yeah I saw that but it looks really weak spec wise, doesn't seem to be able to do n64 either. NeoandGeo
An Xperia Play from eBay is exactly what you are looking for. It plays everything from Atari to N64/PSX near perfectly. Either that, or you are stuck waiting until the Vita is fully hacked and allows emulators. migo
I don't think the Wiz is available for sale anymore, and it had problems with screen tearing. Also, I'm quite wary of anything by GPH. GP32 lasted 4 years, GP2X lasted 2 years, and the Wiz lasted 1 year. The Canoo might be running a bit longer than that, but just by the time dev support really picks up, they axe their old model and release a new one. Xilo
Get an older PSP. You can play PSP, PS1, and all handheld/console games up to the N64 but like you said not perfectly. Nothing can really emulate N64 that well except a PC. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1092629-emulation-handheld/#findComment-595040175 Share on other sites
