How to connect two computers in Local LAN using FTP

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Please I'd like to ask for your help for something that I do remember that I did it before but honestly no longer remember or able to redo it.

I'd like to connect two computers in my local lan using the ftp.

I've installed FileZilla server in the computer I want to transfer files from, and installed FileZilla client on the other computer I want to transfer files to or into.

The computer I want to transfer files from is 192.168.0.4 while the computer I want to transfer files into is 192.168.0.3 .

I added a group and a user and a home folder to filezilla server.

I do not know how to connect both of them using the ftp server and client while I did setup the network wizard for all computers in the local lan.

Note: I do not have a server in the lan but just all computers connected to the D-Link and talk to each others.

Thanks

Enter the IP of the one running the server into the quick connect box at the top of the client, username and pass if you set one and hit connect

This is what I exactly did but I am afraid that it does not allow me to be connected at all.

Thanks

Are you running a firewall you need to configure to allow the connection ? (Not sure if you need port forwarding or uPnP enabled on the router)

I run FTPServer on my Android tablet and Filezilla client on my PC, I just setup a username as pass, port and static IP on the tablet, then entered the same into the filezilla client and it gives me access no problems

Yes exactly it was the firewall.

Connected now ")

The most amazing thing about ftp is the speed of the file transfer.

When I copy the normal way using the network group copy and paste command I can transfer with 20:25 MB/second while with FTP it is almost 50 MB/Second or more.

    • I understand. I am not talking about benchmarks at all, even though I probably should look into those too - I just mean historically Vivaldi was a rather sluggish chromium browser when in use compared to other chromium browsers. I am always willing to give it additional tries whenever performance improvements are mentioned in the patch notes.
    • First make whole system slow and now making it fast. That's your own doing-undoing !!
