Flash 11.3.300.268 + Firefox 14.0.1 = Nothing but issues

Recommended Posts

I was running FF 14.0.1 (x86) and Flash 11.3.300.268 (x86) and flash was constantly crashing. I also noticed that in task manager there are 2 flash plgins running + FF's plugincontainer. One of the flash player plugins run at over a gig and the other runs at about 200+mb.

When flash doesn't crash, FF crashes. I am running Win7 x64. I switched to FF Nightly and the crashes aren't as frequent, but they do occur. Flash plugins also run a lot lower. One runs at about 180mb and the other barely reaches 5mb.

Anyways, Nightly seems more stable for me at this point then stable. But was wondering if running x64 of Flash and FF would be better? I have never run the x64 versions, so I don't know. Any suggestions?

I've used to have this problem with Internet Explorer and Flash. But that's history. I don't use IE any more. This problem seems to occur to a few people who's computer is infected with a virus that flash is running something in the background. During my past experience, I conclude that this is because the web site that you went through contains malicious code that allow Flash to run ads in the background. I have had a problem where I hear audio that came out of nowhere. The web page does not have ads but contains code that call Flash.

I have been using Waterfox (which is Firefox but 64bit version) and I have not seen any Flash related issues. I have zero crash experience on Waterfox. My theory about the multiple Flash process running in the background is that there are malicious site that take advantage of the Flash sandbox thing. Try Waterfox with Flash 64bit to see if it will still crash or runs extra Flash process in the background.

Flash + IE9 no issue.

Firecrap :D

How does your anti browser rant helping matters.

No crashes here, most of issues has been on adobe's side. the only thing i can think of is wait for more bug fixes for flash from adobe, or temporary disable flash.

The recent flash issue with firefox is the new sandbox that adobe added to supposedly making it harder to be exploited. But it's also making Firefox crashes more often. This problem is driving a massive number of people to other browsers.

The best solution is to switch two versions back to 11.2.202.228. Why two versions back? because I've found even flash 11.2.202.235 is causing major stalls with page that have tons of flash objects.

You can grab old version here here http://helpx.adobe.c...r-versions.html until adobe/mozilla get there **** straight.

Ok, so I pretty much fixed my issue. *knock on wood* First I reformatted my drive with Win8 RP x64, then I installed FF 3.6.7 x86 and then flash 11.3.300.268 x86. Then I updated FF via the FF updater to 14.01 and have not had a crash yet. Then I did the same to my Win7 x64 drive. Upon running FF under Win7, my flash became unstable and crashed. FF followed suit, then my system gave me a BSoD. Don't remember the error code. Anyways, I wiped the Win7 drive and installed Fedora 17 on it.

So now I am running Win8 RP and I have no issues. Win8 even runs my games a lot smoother. So no more Win7 for me. No dual boot with any thing either now that I have the extra drive. I may not like MetroUI, but damn me to Hell! it works a lot better then Win7 ever did.

Don't know if my experience will help anyone else, but it surely helped me.

I solved the Flash crash stuff -- but 13, 14 versions of Firefox keep messing up.

Even tho I shut down FF before shutting off the computer, FF then starts up next time, saying 'this is embarassing ...' and it asks if I want to start a new session.

Another issue is, sometimes I can't open a 3rd window -- it's either ridiculously shrunk in size, or the window is just blank.

FF seems to just lose my preferences too at times.

Newer is not always better.

Try dling FF 3.6.7, then uninstall FF, delete prefs and then install 3.6.7, update it all the way using the inbuilt updater and then add in all your extensions and then uninstall flash and then reinstall it. Make sure to use Ccleaner to clear all temps and then the Ccleaner reg cleaner at each stage of removal. Don't know if it will fix your issue, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
