mayamaniac
whats the best dock (like in mac os X)?-------------------- PI 133 mghz 32 mb ram 2 gb hd With that system spec, you shouldn't be runnning a dock at all. But for those with faster systems, here's my comparisons on the 3 docks on another similar thread: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...dpost&p=1430854 I have to add one more plus for moby, you have the option to run at High process priority which gives more CPU resource to it over other apps. This eliminates any slow downs. I haven't figured out how to make Y'z or OD to auto launch as High process priority, you have to do it manually everytime it boots up in the task manager. :( If any body know how to make Y'z auto launch at high process priority, plase post. Thanks. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1451605 Share on other sites
honoriak
OD is better for me.. YZ is way a bit more slow and consumes much resources.. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1451938 Share on other sites
QuarterSwede
I would usually say Yz's Dock 0.8.3 but I just tried Objectdock again and am surprised at how fast it runs without consuming that much memory 10,000K. Yz's still only used around 3,000K but is dead as everyone knows  MobyDock only uses 8,730K but I can't stand the way it looks. It runs fairly smoothly but doesn't have many options. For now, I'll go with ObjectDock because it is still being developed. bozer
I dont understand the appeal in having seperators in your dock. Why do you need them (what are they used for)? Am I missing something? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1543808 Share on other sites

Ridgeburner
I've never personally found Yzdock or Mobydock to be anything spectacular. I wasnt feelin the way they moved, that kind of...wide angle magnification but very slow, not even smooth really, but not slow like, my system is a POS or something. Just the way they were both coded I guess. Latest ver. of mobydock gave me lots of problems, even with a dx9 card (check sig) I've always loved objectdock, it has endless support, and is LIGHTNING fast, seperators and other things are excellent too. And seperators are nice for people who have tons of icons on their dock like me (30-35) and need to seperate...Audio Apps, Graphics Apps, Internet Apps, etc. etc. just to make it easier. OD it is for me. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1554967 Share on other sites

GotoLamia
I have tried all three as well... I used OB for the longest time, MD keept crashing on my system  But Yz is the best for me it runs Faster... Smoother... and I just like it. OB is great expecaly if you want to custimize it.. there is such a big community behind it, but Yz gets my vote. Chill out, be groovy, --GotoLamia-- P.S. If some one wants Yz PM me  *whistle* Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1564192 Share on other sites

evo7
I used all of them md is pretty good but i dont like it od is good too and im using it right now i like yz dock because it uses very little ram usage but i got a prob with yz, when im running full screen, i move my mouse to the place where my yz is, and the full screen program goes back to desktop. i tried autohide... doesnt work. and thats why i use od instead of yz Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/109493-best-dock/page/3/#findComment-1640300 Share on other sites

Frogboy Administrators Posted January 23, 2004 Administrators Share Posted January 23, 2004 Such as? I'm curious to know, always used YZ's Dock myself. yZDock doesn't display tasks does it? None of the versions I've run do anyway. Last time I checked yZ could only use PNGs whereas ObjectDock can also use icons. There are a few others I believe but those two things stand. Not displaying running tasks would seem like a pretty big deal. sciguy007
yz dock is my favorite still, but without further development im sure object dock or moby dock will pull ahead of it.
