I'm a fan of what you've done there. I think we have the same design as Germany's (in the UK), and while I like it, there are some elements that are hideous (well, I say "hideous," but that is an exaggeration, as I long for a more "Metro" design), most notably the images they've used for the links to their Facebook and YouTube pages, located at the bottom, along with the image used for the link to sign up to their newsletter).

Some of theirs looks somewhat "Metro," while some of it doesn't. Your mock-up certainly looks a little bit more "Metro."

One suggestion I have is for you to make the Xbox logo monochrome, like most of Microsoft's new logos are. Microsoft's new "Metro" logos tend to be white on a different colour background, though, so that could mean your design will require a different background colour to white. Either that, or possibly just a green block around a white Xbox logo (a bit like how a wide tile looks on the Windows 8 Start Screen). I'm not sure whether that would work well or not, though.

p.s. Welcome to Neowin :D

I doubt that you are webdesigner at Microsoft, so it is a stylish script?

Maybe it makes more sense if your share this with the community here.

And actually the xbox sites looking in all languages the same.

Maybe you post the screenshots from the English site, so everybody will understand it.

Also from me, welcome on board,

Willkommen auf Neowin! :)

@Calum

This is an good idea! I will try to make the logo more Metro in making it flat an white on green.

@thekim

You are right. It is just for fun. I love to work with windows, I love to play with my xbox,

I love to phone with my Windows Phone. But the marketing of Microsoft, above all their

websites, is not really what I understand of liftestile products.

Typography, padding, spacing. Corporate grids

It is all inadequate to me.

The current starpage of xbox looks like this:

Here the green version. Probably to much green. I think about it.

There are to less contrasts.

I think there may be a bit too much green, but it's certainly coming along well and I much prefer the logo on this mock-up! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

It took some time to develop next steps of concept.

I thought first concepts were to gray and the green one was to green.

Current concept uses both colors in a better proportion as I feel:

Probably the Live login should be moved under the keyvisual section,

so the headers can breathe.

I still dont like the Facebook, Youtube, ... links in the footer.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
