How many times are they going to reboot Batman? At this point, rebooting won't do it anymore. They need to reformat the hard drive.

I feel people seem to get carried away with this word "reboot". I don't see what the big deal is with someone making another Batman film.

Wow, they are really running out of ideas aren't they!

Ugh, this stupid line again. Seems more like people here are running out of ideas for replies to such topics.

No need for spoilers.

The majority of the issue with TDKR is the fact that it's stupidly long, huge gaps between action and had so much more potential than it was given.

Maybe for somebody with the attention span of the average pet dog, but I found the pacing and length of TDKR to be perfectly fine.

Sure it's not as good as TDK, I mean who can top Heath Ledger's Joker, but it's still a very good film in it's own right.

My only criticisms were that it seems a little confused in places, and we really didn't get to see Batman very much at all. Also I really wasn't keen on them using New York in place of Gotham. They could've at least made an effort to digitally disguise some of the famous NY landmarks like the Empire State and the new 1 WTC tower.

My initial reaction is, "good god, no!"

But who knows. I don't remember my reaction to the idea of Batman Begins (given the films beforehand though, I would imagine it wasn't a good reaction). I'll wait until more details come out.

Ya know, I felt similarly, but on seeing it again I just loved it. Probably the change in expectations, whatever, it just felt right.

I am yet to see TDKR, I am a bit worried I might hate it!

I loved it! I don't understand why so many people seem to dislike it. I don't believe it's better than The Dark Knight, but I do believe it's pretty awesome and better than Batman Begins.

I found the plot became increasinly tedious and uninteresting. The overbearing emotional self-importance of it all had me cringing of times. Not to mention some ridiculously stupid and hammy scenes.

@Rappy: I really can't understand how anyone could give it 5/5. Although Empire did give Indy4 4/5.

I thought it was really weird, but then Empire gave it a massive glowing review saying it was a masterpiece

This doesn't sound much like a "reboot" to me though, it's not picking up right from the start, it's not a do over of batman begins for example. They seem to be picking a period between say, batman begins and tdk or w/e and going from there. Sure it's a new actor and probably the style will be different but that doesn't much matter. Unlike spiderman where they did go back to square one and started over, that is more of a reboot. If you just pick a time somewhere in the middle of the batman world and make a movie then I don't think of it as the same really.

I'd hate it if they did infact start all the way from scratch and went through the whole creating batman process again for a new movie. At this point even if the target audience is new younger people I think they already know who batman is and how he started.

Which depends on how much they change, I honestly, seeing how they're now making even superman, not much will change from Nolans dark tone, and I think it shouldn't. They might scale back the "realism" that we've had so far and go closer to the comics but the dark and serious version we've had for 3 films I don't expect will change. If they go back to the more detective style batman that has to salve problems and use his head just as much as his fists and combat skills then I'm all for it. Personally I want to see someone do a movie with Riddler, I think a really good movie can be done with him alone as the bad guy, so underrated in the universe. I think we've gotten enough batman movies with Joker, hell the newest batman game killed him off!

To the people that are talking about reboots of films based off of comics: This is what happens to the comics themselves as well. It's not a reboot, but just another story based off of the same character set in a different universe. It's different than when Terminator or Back To The Future gets rebooted.

There's loads of comics about Batman's beginnings and they all have different titles. It's the same with Spiderman, X-Men and all the other super heroes. The stories are also different than the other titles and they're usually set in different universus. I see these movies that are based off of such comics as the same. A new story of the same character with a new title set in a different universe.

Oh I know about all that and It's why I got away from US comics and moved over to Japanese and Korean manga/manwha. They do have series that are crazy long and don't look like they'll end but they don't pull that crap, a series has it's one plot line and maybe some side stories or spin-offs but that's it. None of this alternate time line and so on, and most things end at some point. I think DC got tired of the mess that was made all these years in their comics and that's why the just rebooted everything over and have no started fresh. I hope this time they don't make a mess of things.

I think the few that dislike The Dark Knight Rises were the bandwagoners who thought The Dark Knight was the best thing ever and were expecting The Dark Knight Rises to use the same formula and genre. But that's not Nolan's style as he uses a different genre for each film in his trilogy, which makes it enjoyable and non-repetitive. Although Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was the highlight of the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises brings back what the story is all about: Bruce Wayne. Incorporating the story of Batman Begins and the plot of The Dark Knight was a perfect combination to conclude the trilogy.

Of course not but I just don't want them to respin basically the same part of the batman universe over. If they go back and give us yet another joker movie I dunno how I'll feel about it. How about we try to move on and get a little deeper instead of just the first, I dunno, 5-10 years over and over again?

If the movies don't give me that at least the games seem to be doing a good job, thank god for rocksteady.

you can bank on the joker being back in the next batman movie, he's too big of a villian to just drop. if ledger didn't die he probably would of been in the final nolan flick as well.

Most definitely, but I'm kind of surprised that TDKR didn't even MENTION joker at all. Or even hint at him escaping during the prison escape.

My recommendation is, don't waste your time. It just cannot live up to the hype and it doesn't even come close to TDK.

That's like telling someone to not watch Return of the Jedi. Yes, TDK was very good but TDKR is not a waste of time if you care about the overall series.

If WB wants to reboot Batman I don't care. It doesn't somehow eliminate the Nolan series from existing.

      So I did a quick test based on 3+ different public instances from the litany at searx.space ... and it spins everything rather differently. It seems that SearXNG is a meta-search engine (queries multiple search indexes rather than only Google's or Bing's or Wikipedia's or Reddit's) that operates in two modes: > public instances ... each instance opens itself to outside users who piggyback on its cached search history; this instance's own identity becomes known/tracked but end-users are hidden similar to an anonymization proxy; this instance's querying of major search indexes may be API based [rated limited, blocked, etc.]). > private instances ... your private install/instance that itself queries multiple (configurable) search indexes of crawled web content; every major Search Engine associates all traffic to your private instance (so your traffic is tracked via network usages) but client-side tracking (your own browser/computer specs) is flushed because it's a "server" doing the querying rather than your browser. My test asked the same 1 question to the 3+ engines and they all returned vastly different results: some had CAPTCHA failures against Google, some had failures against Wikipedia, and the actual results were also different -- some had auto-complete enabled, others returned a wikipedia highlighted excerpt despite the Wikipedia failure (hinting at results being cached from previous keyword matching), and others just gave an Are-You-Human non-CAPTCHA loop before returning random results. So this begs the caveat: Search query results will vary based on which instance is used because every instance queries the other search indexes separate (and thus its results are influenced on that instance's aggregate search history and index-access limitations). The major distinctions for SearXNG versus DDG or Brave: > The search UI is 'untracked' since no UI trackers are baked-in which would phone home or lay cookies into your browser (for DDG/Brave usage stats), > There is no 'crawler' that canvasses the Internet to discover fresh content (it leaves that to the major search indexes), > Queries multiple search indexes ("meta-search engine") based on the configurations and usage history of the server instance, > Privacy-friendly due to its ability to shield user tracking via standing up a non-local server instance connectable to major VPN providers: queries would all appear to come from general VPN/Proxy providers rather than your private instance (whether installed locally or on your own VPS in the cloud). PS: I've previously come across specialized search engines of this nature that indexes searches across media assets like YT, OF, etc. SearXNG seems to be a good backbone...if the rate-limiting/captcha/etc. issues were resolved.

Brexit was a good idea, should have done it years before, it was done badly, but the idea was good. You are saying the same thing as remainers do, oh we did what Putin wanted, we listened to the lies and Farage. I hate Farage and never believed most of what he said, certainly did not believe the £350m a week for the NHS. But we did pay a lot of money to the E.U and yes some of it came back, but what is the point of paying it out for only some of it to come back?
