I am loving this game SO MUCH. I have been waiting for a game like this for years; a free roam beat'em up, it is BEAUTIFUL!

Spent far too much time just searching for people to fight. I think I must have completed one of the Martial Arts Clubs about 10 times so far.

I've always enjoyed the True Crime series, and this is no exception. It unashamedly steals features and ideas from all sorts of games, and for once that isn't a bad thing. I especially liked the fact they put in the Taxi feature from GTA4, that is so sorely missed in the Saints Row series.

If I was to give a quick description to someone who had never heard of S.D, I'd say:

Batman Arkham City/Asylum's fighting mechanic with the thriving cities from GTA & SR.

Managed to play even more yesterday and now I'm continuing where I left off - What a way to spend my vacation!

I'm really into the whole martial arts and you really get some pretty sweet moves by helping out the wannabe Mr. Miyagi. I really think they made the right choice by making guns play a lesser role than in GTA IV, where you can be fully armed in five minutes, they really are used at the right times.

The driving is still making me crazy and the motorbikes are just the worst I've ever tried driving. Besides that I really believe the police could use an overhaul, they just seem to be there for scripted events and for looks when roaming.

It actually reminds me of Just Cause 2. I'm wondering if they used its engine (and improved it, of course.)

Just Cause 2 (and Renegade Ops) use Avalanche Engine 2.0 and is a propriety engine from Avalanche Studios (makes sense lol).

Sleeping Dogs uses an in house propriety engine developed by United Front it looks like from scratch.

Also, there is now a demo for Sleeping Dogs available on Steam!

I'm loving the game so far. Playing it on PC with a controller, I love the graphics to be honest. The city looks beatiful. And just can't get enough of the story :|

I like using a controller until I get to the gunplay.

O?Connell also claimed that a good PC version can help all versions of the game. ?The PC gaming audience can be very influential. They?re very vocal, and I think they respect and appreciate when effort is made."

Damn right. I wouldn't have even been interested if it was another DX9 game.

Those blooming fat guys do my head in. They are easy one on one as they never block but with a group they can get off a few hits and completely drain your health.

I was doing a fight club, got to the last wave and had three guys left and full health. Within about 5 seconds i was dead. Blooming fat guy!

Larry- i assume you're on PS3?

Good to hear people are liking this game, i will be getting it sometimes soon after not wanting initially. it doesn't look much like HK at all, but then the developers said it's pseudo-Hong Kong. is most of it in English or Cantonese?

It reminds me of Assassins Creed in that the dialogue is mostly in english but will slip in Cantonese is certain parts, mostly for swearing.

The voice acting is excellent, so i'm sure you won't miss cantonese.

Is it true you don't get to use guns until you progress a fair bit?

True, it is a few missions in before you get any guns and then after that you still rely heavily on melee combat.

It is so well done though that you enjoy every fight.

It's mostly English, but most of the swearing is in Cantonese..

After I've been playing for a while another thought popped into my head, the dating is just.. weird. You take a girl out, you do your business , and then you never talk to her again, except for when she calls you to complain about your other ladies.

They left in the Cantonese for authenticity's sake from what the UF devs have said. Plus, people here in NA and Europe etc love playing Japanese or Chinese (or Asian in general I guess) games with either subtitles on, or in their native tongue still in. I know I do, it's just more...immersive depending on the game. Certainly is for Sleeping Dogs. Played the 2 mission demo just now, really nice. The high res textures aren't in the demo obviously but the game still looks mighty nice. It's great you can skip in game cinematics/cut scenes also, I hate how some ports (and games in general) don't allow this simple thing.

Loved the game from beginning to end. Took me a while to get all the cameras and lockboxes but in case anyone didn't know if you call the girls that give you their numbers and do the quest each girl unlocks something showing up on your minimap (Cameras, Lockboxes, Praying spots). They show in your minimap though, the big map only shows ones you already unlocked. Confused me at first lol

As my above post says, you date them for the one quest to get an unlockable, and you gotta date the russian girl to unlock the final police case.

I recorded videos of all the martial arts clubs (only uploaded one so far). This one has quite a few of those fat dudes near the end:

and here's another:

thanks for the info guys, i guess it'll do that most of it is English and then some is Cantonese. the guy's technically an American working in Hong Kong, right? it would have been nicer to have the language fully authentic as LOC mentioned, but i can see their logic in doing this.

Actually this is where he was born. Went to America afterwards...then came back.

Neo, I am on the PS3 Yep. These days unless it is an exclusive I get my games on it. Have 2 in my house so more time to play upstairs plus and I do prefer the simplicity of the XMB.

I pretty much stopped playing the game when Counter Strike came out, but I am pretty close to deciding on doing the Keep It Now option through Gamefly. Comes to $28 as I have 2 $5 credits at Gamefly and the one expires today so I am getting $10 off the price. I figured if there is a game I should purchase this is it, one of those games I can always come back to. Just slightly hesitant as I know so many good games are coming out soon. What do people think? Is it worth buying as the game I fall back to when there is nothing else to play?

As much as i liked the game. I would hold out for a different game. You think in a few weeks we're going to have Borderlands 2 and then in a months time we've got AC3.

I would send it back and then wait in the future and get it cheaper or around the time new DLC comes out. Supposedly they've got 6 months of DLC coming.

I'm a 46/50 achievements. I have no idea what melee weapons I have and haven't used, and the last two will be a major pain in the ass.

Only other game I've gone for all the achievements in is Just Cause 2 :)

Here's a little list. All of these you're can find in the street and/or use in missions:

1. Purse/handbag (Available on the street)

2. Briefcase (Available on the street)

3. Umbrella (Available on the street)

4. Knife (Street fights)

5. Cleaver (Mission)

6. Tire iron (Available in the favors called "Cheaters never prosper")

7. Grinder (use it on the mission you do with Jackie)

8. Kitchen knife

9. Fish (Mission)

10. Frying pan (Mission)

11. Machete (Mission)

12. Crowbar (Street fights)

I'm currently trying to get myself, and have the frying pan and briefcase left to do. I just need to find a damn frying pan somewhere... I'll let you know where/if I find one.

The Ultra 9 185H features 16 cores and 22 threads running at up to 5.1 GHz. It also includes a dedicated NPU utilizing Intel AI Boost at 11 TOPS. On the graphics front, the 185H includes the still fairly capable ARC Graphics (not to be confused with the newer ARC 140T) integrated GPU with a max GPU frequency of 2350 MHz across 8 Xe-cores. It has been said that the iGPU is equivalent to the NVIDIA GeForce 3050 and GTX 1650 in gaming and synthetic benchmarks. Other highlights include an AMOLED display, LPDDR5x memory at 7467 MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and a fingerprint sensor built into the power button. AI PC? Although the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H includes a dedicated NPU, it's only 11 TOPS; therefore, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ PC. However, it can reach up to 33 TOPS with a combination of NPU, CPU, and GPU. As I said, although we only reviewed the X14 Pro, the unboxing is the same for the X16 Pro, which I noted in my review. The packaging is quite a nice experience. The outer box houses the X16 Pro box with a small compartment that contains the 5-in-1 Dock ($40 value), which appears to be an "Early Bird" inclusion. Upon removing the box cover, the X16 Pro is revealed sitting in a cardboard compartment with two small booklets of documentation. To the left of the X16 Pro are two cardboard compartments containing the 65W charger and Type-C USB cable. What’s In The Box 1 x GEEKOM X16 Pro Ultra-thin Laptop 1 x Type-C to Type-C cable 1.8M 1 x 65W GaN PD Fast Charger 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Thank You Card 1 x User Guide All products sold by GEEKOM receive a 3-year free Warranty from the date you receive the product. • We are reached to the point that apple looks affordable and better choice than anything else, in what dystopia are we living in....
    • Ouch. $1600 for 256GB SSD / 16GB? Even Apple, the purported "target" of Surface devices for a long time, has its MacBook Air M5 at 512GB SSD / 16GB RAM for $999 MSRP. Surface will never be reasonably priced with such low volumes.
    • Sadly price is pretty in line with the other new X2 devices so far. RAM/SSD prices have ruined everything.
