Two PCs, direct connection with ICS. Unidentified network.

I definitely was not using ICS before. I had the same setup like I'm trying to do now. Like I said before, I was confused as to what ICS meant, but now I understand the difference.

I do need ports forwarded from the router to the box behind the bridge. So ICS is out?

Also, like I said originally, this did work for the few days I had it set up, though it took me a long time of doing random things and eventually setting everything back to defaults for it to magically start working.

"took me a long time of doing random things"

Well this is something you should NEVER DO! You can not just randomly click **** and hope it fixes the problem.

This is normally click done - highlight your interfaces, bridge = done.

Anything behind the bridge should be able to talk to devices in front of bridge.

From your arp output - your pc behind was not seeing the MAC of the gateway, so there would be NO possible way for you to talk to that IP.

Do you have firewall blocking traffic on the box doing bridging?

What I would suggest is put your wireless in that forcecompatmode=enable after you create the bridge. Make sure you got lights on your interfaces on both PCs wired interfaces. Your onboard card you are putting in the bridge is 100, so it can not do autocross. But your PC behind looked to have a Gig Interface - does it? if so then sure it can do autocross. Is your cable good? use it elsewhere and verify the cable is good!!

If you got lights, and still not getting an IP via dhcp on the pc behind the bridge. Fire up sniffer on that PC behind the bridge - are you seeing broadcast traffic from devices in front of the bridge? Create some traffic you should be seeing behind the bridge, arps, broadcast, etc. Ping the IP of the box behind the bridge for example (if you set static) Do you see this traffic on the sniff on that PC? If not then NO your bridge is not working! and need to figure out why its not.

Random was the wrong word. I did a bunch of stuff I can't remember. Mostly just going from default IPv4 settings to different static settings, reboots, using Windows automatic troubleshoot problems feature. Tried many different cables, regular and crossover. I have a RJ45 tester and tested all the cables. The Gigabit interface has worked with both standard and crossover cables before, so that isn't an issue.

Well put the wireless in the forcecompatmode=enable, and then fire up a sniffer on the PC behind the bridge. Are you seeing traffic?? Until you look you don't know where else to look. Maybe your seeing broadcast traffic, but for some reason your dhcp is not working or arp is not flowing through?

Disabled Windows firewall on both machines. Ran MS Network Monitor for ten minutes.

Yes. That's actually the only way PC1 gets internet atm. It's hooked up to the router with an ethernet cable right now and it's working fine. Only problem is the cable down the hallway being under foot :)

PC1 was getting internet through PC2, after I somehow magically got it to work before, and it was great for a few days. Then I unplugged PC1 from PC2, and plugged PC1 into the router. After I downloaded some stuff, I plugged PC1 back into PC2 and it wasn't working anymore. All I did was switch the cable to the router and switch it back. No settings or anything else changed in between.

Have you reboot the router when you switch it back?

Delete what ever Bridge you have now and do a Bridge with your wireless and Linksys LNE100TX and try that.

Also manually if needed (the hope is the above works) the IP for PC#1 like.

IP 192.168.2.101

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway 192.168.2.1

DNS 8.8.8.8

Check PC#2 works and try to ping from PC#1 to PC#2 and the router.

And from that sniff I don't see 1 packet from anything other than that machine itself. So your bridge is clearly not sending anything.

Did you set the box to static 2.101 for a bit of time? This seems out of place with all the other 169.254 and dhcp requests

92 12:43:30 PM 8/16/2012 301.1296240 192.168.2.101 192.168.2.255 NbtNs NbtNs:Query Request for BRW00225878B66E Workstation Service {UDP:12, IPv4:11}

Unless the browser service still thought its IP address was that? What machine is BRW00225878B66E

And this sure looks like an arp from your router asking for 2.100 (bridge box)

114 12:46:41 PM 8/16/2012 492.4190621 192.168.2.1 192.168.2.100 ARP ARP:Request, 192.168.2.1 asks for 192.168.2.100

Other than that strange arp, I don't see anything from any other machine - so bridge clearly not sending packets down the wire. That sniff does not show mac addresses -- can you change it to that. That is much easier to rad what came from where, etc.

Did you set your wireless card to forcecompatmode=enable ? Do you have other devices connect to your router network? If so you should of seen lots of broadcast traffic. See how your box was sending out requests for WPAD and SSDP (UPnP) And announcing

You should of seen those from your bridge box at least.

    • Nothing kills CMF Phone 2 Pro's successor due to rising memory prices by Hamid Ganji Storage and RAM prices have been rising over the past year, leading to a significant increase in the cost of electronics for customers around the world. Many companies are now revising their plans for upcoming devices due to higher component costs and overall production expenses. CMF is the latest company to cancel the successor to one of its best-selling phones due to rising memory prices. CMF is a sub-brand of Nothing and focuses on making budget smartphones for growing markets. The brand launched the CMF Phone 2 Pro last year with some eye-catching specifications and an affordable price. While many customers may have been waiting for a successor this year, one of the company’s executives has announced that CMF will not release a new smartphone this year. And AI is to blame. As Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis announced on X, the company has been working on a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, but with current memory prices, it cannot “build a phone that feels like a genuine step forward at a price that makes sense for CMF.” So, no new CMF phone will be launched this year. Meanwhile, Evangelidis said the company still has several new products in the pipeline, including some in entirely new categories. He added that the Nothing brand will also continue launching new products through 2026. Budget smartphones are among the first victims of the surge in RAM and memory prices, as they have become more expensive to build. The sharp increase in memory costs could also reshape the traditional price ranges associated with budget phones. Apple CEO Tim Cook also recently said that price increases for some of the company’s products are unavoidable because RAM and memory have become significantly more expensive this year. Analysts estimate that the base price of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could rise to $1,399 due to current market shortages.
    • Nudge me when they bring back hardware audio acceleration so I can get my EAX 5 back. We've evolved graphics to real-time path tracing, but regressed audio some 15 years back in time with this stupid software audio stack.
    • Ocenaudio 3.19.4 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view.
