Most articles are neutral, with a slight leaning toward Microsoft.

However, Brad's articles are unashamedly pro-Microsoft, and occasionally even anti-the competition.

its the other way around... look at the last 20-25 article All pro MS and the rest negative about other companies.

We have a focus on covering Microsoft news, but whether or not there is a bias towards Microsoft is up to the individual author - there is no rule that dictates we must praise Microsoft at every moment

Neowin is neutral i think, Some articles are Pro-Microsoft, others are Anti-Microsoft... what ever is making headlines at the time will be posted here.

Same with staff, some are more pro Microsoft than others, so you see both sides of the story.

This thread reminds me of this quote from the simpsons:

Interviewer: Drederick, ah, what do you think of Homer Simpson?

Drederick Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

Interviewer: Uh, you know, they do have a mother, Champ?

Drederick Tatum: Yes, but I would imagine that she would die of grief.

Steve (Neobond) has been quite vocal with negative constructive criticism, in the form of editorials, about the new Windows 8 experience on desktop PCs :p So that's something of note.

I don't believe he's incorrect in his comments, either.

Also, what's with the public polls? And it's also badly worded. :p

News sites shouldn't have a bias in theory... Not counting editorials of course.

Neowin is mostly neutral regarding Microsoft. They are co-operating with MS (example: the recent Outlook.com news and forum thread), yes, but also not afraid of calling MS out on not so good ideas (example: Windows 8 frontpage news).

As Tim mentioned earlier in the thread, I think that's pretty spot on. Neowin generally focusses on Microsoft news more than other subjects these days, because those coming to Neowin have a certain expectation to see Microsoft news. There has and always will be I suspect, general news being posted on Neowin, I certainly like to report on stories that I feel strongly about, where ever they're coming from, but I think the focus of Neowin right now is Microsoft.

The angle however, in which that news is covered differs with each reporter. Some will leave their personal opinions to editorials, but particularly with Neowin's change in journalistic reporting style, it has and will always I suspect, shine through with some reporters of their personal opinion on the matter. The site's motto does include after all, "unprofessional journalism". With this site's particular history and experience in reporting Microsoft news though, there is a form of co-operation between Neowin and Microsoft which Mephistopheles points out, and that could sometimes be interpretted as a 'pro' view. I do think though that if there is any wrong doing on Microsoft's part that the Neowin team won't hesitate to report it and publish it in a way that represents the consumers interest.

In other words, I think Neowin's stance moves quietly around the neutral point, depending on the reporter as well as the story that they're reporting.

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
