oooooh indeed.

Im a Forza nut but nothing Ive found on PC has been as good, this however could just tempt me

forze could have been such a good game, if only it was on PC, with a strong community behind it, with modders making it more realistic, could have been an amazing racing simulator, instead its just a mediocre arcade racer

Actually, that's Forza Horizon. Forza 4 is a mediocre pseudo-sim. It's the most sim-like racing game on the 360 outside of RACE Pro, but it doesn't hold a candle to GT5, and both of those easily get trounced by pretty much every sim on the PC.

Agree with your other points though; Forza does have the strong community behind it, but obviously on consoles, they're limited to creating decals and tuning setups. And that's the joy of the PC world: the players will set out to improve the games in any way possible. Colin McRae DiRT is a good example; there's a mod available to make the game play more like Richard Burns Rally (widely considered the most realistic rally game ever made), so you get the winning combination of the old-school realism plus the modern-day graphics, which is essentially what Project CARS is going to turn out like.

What's even more amazing is when this is finished and released, the console versions will play exactly the PC version (just with worse graphics, and gameplay locked to 30 FPS).

Just tried it. I think i spent the last 2 hours trying to set my wheel up. Now it just refuses to change steering lock. I have full 900 degrees (or 1080 the game reports). I want to limit to at least 360 and logitech profiler refuses to lock it. I think i was fiddling so much that logitech profiler refuses to work now. When i first booted the game i have the lock at 180 and obviously the cars weren't steering correctly.

I'll try again tomorrow, after a reboot. I can't bothered now. Too much rage inside

If you need help just say so Lingwo.

Heres a thread that you can give a look @ in order to setup your wheel.

You're probably the only person in the world who considers GT5 a better sim than Forza 4, most serious sim fans considers Forza 3 better than GT5, but anyway.

I don't really think modability is a plus for many game types, racing sims among them since I have yet to see a good mod for them. While some claim to increase realism, I consider the people with pro tool analyzing equipment and the assistance of pro drivers far better than the judgement of a basement modded who at best may have tried a tired and not race timid Ferrari at a track day.

Also, 30 fps on consoles, I have doubts this will be much more realistic in driving than F4 and even if it is, the difference is going to be so small it won't matter, and so small that the fact that F4 runs at 60 is going to be more I portent to the serious sim fan. If they're going to compete as a serious sim race on consoles, they ned to tune graphics to run at 60.

I don't understand the decision to close registrations though, but oh well I have other games to play with anyway.

You're probably the only person in the world who considers GT5 a better sim than Forza 4, most serious sim fans considers Forza 3 better than GT5

...now that's news to me. I have never heard anyone state Forza 3 or 4 to be more realistic than GT5. I've seen a lot of people say Forza 4 is better-looking and more detailed; it's definitely more detailed, but the graphics are subjective, due to the filters used. As for the gameplay, it's a no-brainer. GT5's cars behave more like their real-life counterparts, and there's much less room for error compared to Forza 3/4 (like in real life). A couple of sources to back that up: http://www.caranddri...sport-3-feature - http://www.gtplanet....ad.php?t=122236

Yes, the limiting of Project CARS to 30 FPS on console isn't good (I've constantly posted in the past about the need for racing games to be 60 FPS); I can only assume that the physics engine and everything else controlling the gameplay requires more power than a typical console racer would. But then again, SMS aren't exactly rolling in money making this game; they've got ?4,000,000 to spend on the game itself. EA probably spend that much just on advertising each annual Need for Speed game.

The saving grace will be the gameplay and physics. If it truly is the same as the PC version, then that alone should be enough to ensure the game will be successful. If the next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony come along fairly soon (within the next 12 months), then SMS say they may also work on versions for those consoles as well.

The only reason the game is not running at 60 fps in consoles its because they are not capable to handle it. They explained it at the forums many times, just as an example they said that theres no current gen console (including the Wii U) that can handle their 600hz tickrate. Now imagine having a poor console doing all of this while delivering top notch graphics ^^.

If the Xbox 720/Infinity or the PS4 were out, that would be a different story but the longevity they speak so much about is now bitting them in the ass.

About the funding they had a objective of 3.75M euros, they are currently at 700? away from completing it, in order to avoid going over budget they closed it down and currently allow only the existing members to upgrade.

I warned a few posts back about this so cant say that it was unexpected :p

Hmm so your sources are gt fan sites, whereas independent sites no race drivers all agree that Forza beats the crap out of GT5, which is ok. The GT series was never a sim racer, it was always in the more arcade scale of sim, but not an arcade racer. They have started to turn more sim after Forza gave them competition, unfortunately, GT was a Bette game before they tried to become more sim.

Hmm so your sources are gt fan sites

Uhh, one of them was a GT fan site, which was still an impartial review (you do know there's also a Forza fan site run by the same people?), and the other was an automotive magazine. Want some more independent comparisons?

YES PLEASE! :D Thanks! :D

When they announce something like that be sure ill say something. Also if any of the News Reporters or Editors @ NeoWin are interested in a Press access i think that can be achieved also :)

just FYI, FM3. And most will complain the GT5 you can drive on the grass in the corners without losing control as you should and GT5 allows you to throw the car into the corners.

either way, this is off topic.

They have been working simultaneously on the 4 platforms, XBOX 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. There can be some images soon from the console versions, except the WII U which they are still under NDA.

Thanks, i have been basing my setup off of these and the other controller thread but i think something my end.

FFB and everything is fine, just i can't get the steering lock to work. It didn't when i first booted it up but now, it always wants to do 900 degrees.

I'll try again later today after a reboot, so hopefully it'll be ok now and i can sort the steering lock.

Now i can't even get the steering lock to be more than 180.

Now all it does is turn 900 degrees and lock it to 180. So when ingame it will do 180. Which is quite annoying because that is half a turn of the wheel. To get 180 though i have to turn 900 on my wheel

Also it doesn't center when i let got of the wheel.

I'm not completely thick and have an understanding of what the options mean and can't believe i'm having this much trouble just to get the wheel calibrated  . I think i may end up having to post to ask for help on the pcars forum.

Just to make sure it wasn't my logitech profiler/wheel playing up, i tried F12011 and it was fine, no troubles.

Probably its when you get to the 90? part during the calibration, it also made me some confusion in the beginning.

So the first phase of wheel calibration is that you turn the wheel left and right to the extreme in order to know the range it has.

The second part is the 90? angle, (heres the tricky part) you have to turn the wheel right and when you see on the top the numbers being = to 900? you hold the wheel like that (dont let it go !!) and press next or finish.

Maybe this is whats causing the issue ?

Yeah, i am sure it is something there but even when i do that. It still has massive issues with it all.

I'll get there in the end, it is a G25 and a popular wheel, so i can't see it being the games fault. Just the idiot with the wheel

SearXNG develops a meta-search engine app. Individuals install it on their relays. Users connect to these relays to have their own identity-stripping meta-search engine instead of relying on DuckDuckGo. And some of these volunteers have listed their SearXNG instances on SearX.space. That was a lot of wrap my head around. I hope I haven't missed anything.

Improved support for portable apps installed via Windows System Control Center (WSCC). NirSoft portable apps are now listed with "NirSoft" prefix for easier identification. Improved the speed of uninstalling apps. The main installed software listing search will now find "Xbox GameBar" if you search for "Game bar" and vice versa. The tooltip now displays more detailed information of the installed apps, such as its registry key and uninstaller path. The links in the About section now look more like clickable links. The main menu is now more clearly indicated in the main user interface. Improved the accuracy of the New Software Monitor. Improved confirmation messages for Steam and other platform related uninstalls. Improved the uninstallation performance of Steam games. Fixes: Known bug fixed: Some installed app names are capitalized incorrectly, such as "CCleaner Portable" is listed as "ccleaner portable". Known bug fixed: Some apps can be listed twice, for example, Smart Defrag can be listed once as Smart Defrag and then Smart Defrag Home. Known bug fixed: On the pre-uninstallation screen, the Scripts checkbox can be checked by default on Dark Mode but not on the normal mode. Known bug fixed: Perform Deep Analysis can be started only by clicking the button, not via the Right Click menu, main menu or F4 keyboard shortcut. Muse Hub could be incorrectly listed as Adobe Muse. SyncTrayzor was incorrectly detected as two unrelated software, SyncTrayzor and Syncthing. Smart Defrag was incorrectly listed twice as Smart Defrag 11 and Smart Defrag Home. It was possible to enter non-printable characters to the search input boxes of the main screen, and the path listing screen, which caused the UI to look funny. Changing the translation from Settings, especially many times in a row, caused the UI to distort. If you had multiple instances of portable apps on your system, such as the 64b and 32b versions of the same portable app, typically only one of them was detected, not both. In some very rare cases, Uninstalr UI could start with random characters in its search input boxes, which could make the UI look rather confusing. This was a rare issue, only reported by two users. The pre-uninstallation screen could display non-existing paths for example as the software's installation directory or main exe file. This was a cosmetic issue. New Software Monitor cannot detect the installation of Claude. Selecting all the found software made the UI look funny with the top panel covering everything else (because the names of all the selected software were listed there). Sometimes a Steam game could be listed a normal app instead of a Steam game. If the system restart after an uninstallation is delayed, e.g. because of Windows Updates being installed, this additional delay is incorrectly added to the time how long the uninstallation process took. This cosmetic bug could cause the program incorrectly report an uninstallation time longer than the actual uninstallation time. Uninstalling Minecraft could simply fail. The Only scan the system drive for installed apps setting does not fully work. If some apps are installed to a non system drive and this setting is enabled, the app could still be detected and listed on the main user interface. Changing any settings could also incorrectly alter the Only Scan The System Drive For Installed Apps setting. Microsoft OneDrive and Copilot are not always detected. If you enter something to the search filter field, then select the text and press the Delete key, this triggers the Uninstall button click even if your intent was to delete the text input. If you press the F5 key to refresh the screen during the uninstallation loading screen, the program will crash. If you enabled some setting, such as "Do not analyze installed app installation sizes", it could automatically be unchecked later. Uninstalr doesn't warn you if you try to remove Fortec antivirus. There should be a warning if user attempts to remove any antivirus or antimalware type program. Such programs should not be uninstalled using a third party uninstaller, as they are typically protected against automated uninstallation, for security reasons. With "Do not analyze installed app installation sizes" option checked from the Settings, Uninstalr could still display some installation size related elements in the UI which was confusing. The "Only scan the system drive" option moved under Improve Scan Speed from the General settings. If two software have the exact same name and version number, selecting both of them for uninstallation fails because only one is actually selected. Sorting the installed apps by size sometimes fails and the order is incorrect. The "Don't show which paths are currently analyzed" did not work correctly - some parts of the UI still show the currently analyzed path with this setting checked. The "Don't list software less than 10 MB" filter did not work correctly - some apps smaller than 10 MB could still be listed. Uninstalr could start very quickly and display an empty list of detected apps. Restarting the app usually fixed the issue and the list of installed apps was properly displayed. If you placed portable Uninstalr to a same folder with other portable apps, those were not detected because Uninstalr automatically added its installation folder to the ignore list. When trying to uninstall some specific software, Uninstalr could get stuck on the Searching for more data relating to the app phase. Uninstalr could sometimes do a silent uninstallation even if user had unchecked the Perform a silent uninstallation option. Known issues: Uninstalr can fail to run with an Out Of Memory error in systems that have a lot of installed apps. Using the New Software Monitor tool multiple times during one session can cause the program to get stuck on the Scanning stage. The "uninstallation completed" message box sometimes closes when the user moves the mouse cursor over the button before user clicks it. There is no feedback for the user after Fix Information feature has been used. The Right Click menu's Select by publisher option can display the number of apps per each publisher without correct vertical alignment. The default user interface might not display all of the found installed apps if you have over 600 installed apps. If you do, using the Screen Reader Compatible Interface solves the issue. Leftover apptype filter checkbox is shown in red font only in Dark Mode. Clicking the app's icon from the Windows Taskbar doesn't minimize/restore the app like other apps. The warning about an app that user wishes to uninstall being related to some other app user did not select can sometimes be inaccurate. If app's language is changed without restarting Uninstalr, the list of installed software might not automatically refresh. When software is being uninstalled, the UI can say it is processing paths unrelating to the uninstalled app. This is purely cosmetic and does not mean these paths are removed. Uninstalr might not properly detect and/or uninstall Steam games if they are installed to a drive different than Steam's default location in C:\. You might see "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed" error message from Windows Installer during uninstallation. This is a cosmetic issue.
