It's already been confirmed (Eurogamer's updated the article); the delay and new release dates were posted on the WMD forum yesterday (which you have to be registered to see).

Not surprised at the delay.  It's an absolute disaster in it's current state.  Only Practice mode is playable right now, and while the graphics looks great, the gameplay is buggy as hell.

Unless they're holding out a lot of content from my access level, I would predict the game is roughly 30% complete and they need, at an absolute minimum, another solid year of development.  It needs A LOT of work.  Not to mention there are barely any cars and tracks. It should have at least 3x what it currently has to even be a reasonable game.

I am really glad they aren't trying to rush it out because it would immediately be a failure due to how unplayable it is.

There's simply no way it will be ready by March.  The game is still barely playable.  Almost all of the race functions don't work.

I get new builds almost daily and while they are making decent progress, it's all too often that new bugs get created with each build.

I still think they're realistically at only 30% completion.  This game needs to be in Release Candidate status for at least a few months for the beta testers to report the remaining bugs.  They are well over a year away from that.

Even if this game was close to completion, I would be extremely pis*ed to drop $60 on a game that has 20ish cars...

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this game and play the builds almost daily, but I'm frightened and disappointing at the slow progress and where it's headed.   PC needs a racing sim like this and I really really don't want it to fail.

Do you have to be a dev to have access or pay?

Without the obvious branding, is this better than https://www.lfs.net/ ?

If you play the game daily and enjoy it, presumably getting tens if not hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it, how is it not worth 60?

The bigger issue is how/if they will be able to pay back their investors, as this game instead of going with traditional crowd funding decided to create their own system where everyone would be a micro investor and be owed a percentage of the profits...

There was some sort of crowd-funding thing a while back (Kickstarter maybe). So since I contributed some money, I got access to the dev builds on Steam.

Man, I haven't played LFS in probably almost 10 years.  Content-wise, I'm sure that game is as good as it gets.  Graphics seem to still be "meh".

The wow-factor of Project Cars is the straight up amazing graphics.  It's better than anything else out there (Forza, Drive Club, etc).  The driving mechanics are pretty solid and the sounds are great too.  So there is a solid foundation, but the actual gameplay and organization of the game is in shambles.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges here.  I'm essentially a "beta" tester, which is the only reason I play it so much.

If I were to buy this game for $60, having never played it before, it would be really disappointing because of how little you can do. 20-30 cars and tracks and only practice and quick race works.  Forza is essentially 1000 times more of a game than this but with slightly worse graphics.

The issue with this game (besides not being anywhere near done), is that it needs way more included content.  There's no reason why it shouldn't have hundreds of cars like every other racing game out there.  There's no way they could market it with such little content, especially since you need a beast of a rig to run this game in it's full glory.  My 680 SLI gets crushed when I crank it all the way up (the detailed grass setting is what really tanks it).  Porting this to Wii U is stupid, and I really worry about PS4 and X1 being able to play it smoothly.  Too much work is being put into the console crap, and it's severely killing the game as a whole.

To be honest, its the only way they'll afford to add more cars, especially if they insist on modeling non essential mechanics inside the cars as they are now. Modeling a single car is ridiculously expensive, on top of that they need to license it, and due to the technical detail level they go into they may be blocked from even the chance at getting a license.

Besides the consoles aren't really more work. Unless they plan only the rich kid gamers with top of the line rigs to buy it. they already have the lower res resources available.

I'm pretty sure this company will tank shortly after release anyway, and anyone who bought it will be left with an unfinished game and no updates are dlc/addons :/

They did make Grid Autosport, which has a ton of cars, so surely there has to be a way to import those models in some form.

The last time I played this game (sometime last month), it still had very poor driving characteristics, and the physics were just wrong. Honestly if I bought this game for anything more than $10-$15, I would not be very happy.

I'm not part of any testing but I saw the sheet that outlines how much you can pay to be different levels etc and some of them were crazy money.

From what I have seen of the gameplay, screenshots etc it "looks" excellent, and videos seem to show quite good gameplay and I like the concept behind the story line so fingers crossed its good.

I know that the game doesn't recognise gamepads correctly so if you try and use it without configuring it is almost unplayable and the same goes for some steering wheel/pedal combinations.

I just hope they fix the defaults before release as its caused a bit of noise on various forums.

From what I recall, the Xbox 360 controller works for the most part OOB, but you can tweak the settings if you want.

The game does look amazing, but it can bring my Haswell i5/GTX 770 to its knees at 1080p settings. Like I said, the physics and driving model is just not up to par to games like Forza, or GT5/6, though that is the type of sim they are aiming for.

That was Codemasters; Slightly Mad Studios weren't involved in that game in any way.

    • The only reason I want to know where you from is because if you are not from the U.K, then why should you care what we in the U.K do or don't do? Racist I am not, I am fed up with the amount coming over here and feel they can come over here and think we need to support them. Do you know how much it costs this country to support these people coming over here? Even when we give them a place to live it is not good enough. We had a barge that was being used to house immigrants, oh but that was not good enough. A mate said to me at the time, when he was homeless, he would have been happy to live on the barge, instead of ending up sleeping on a bench on the beach. I am not scared to say what my family heritage is, unlike you who is scared to say where they are from or where they live. Father side U.S, mother side Wales, still have family living in the U.S. A mate who sadly died a few years ago, had a load of people from different races recording in his studio, I got on with all of them. Skin colour don't bother me, where they are from don't bother me. Religion don't bother me as long as they don't push it onto me and it is not crazy stuff. I am not religious. But if you are not living in the U.K, then why should you care if we are in the E.U or not? This the problem, too many people poking their noses into where it don't belong. But you believe what you believe, if you think I am racist, then be it, I really do not care. Just grow a pair
    • If he hasn't been able to figure that out, then why is he obsessed with tariffs? Because that's one of the most prominent tools to level the playing field when you have high cost of labor.
    • Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5102558, KB5095615 Setup and Recovery updates by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft released the newest preview update (C-release) under KB5095093. Alongside those, Microsoft also released new dynamic updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates. These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. This time both recovery and setup updates were released for Windows 11. The company writes: "KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.28000.2335. KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows 11, version 25H2. KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.26100.8737." Microsoft notes that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be downloaded and installed automatically via the Windows Update channel.
