Joe Belfiore - Why Microsoft don't push OEMs to make a 64GB device.

I figured I'd look Joe up on Twitter and ask him myself, the response was:

I personally think Microsoft could ask a little more persuasively...

On another note, does anyone know how SD cards will appear in the OS? Will they just make the internal storage look bigger?

when and if windowsphone 8 sells enough phones then maybe they will listen. but for right now everyone should be happy with the SD option.

SD cards will just be added to the pool from the way it looks. A users shouldn't have to pick between internal and external storage to find files, they'll all show up in the librarys. I figure after you add the SD card and boot the device it'll do a quick index of it, at the most you might have some sort of indication of where the files are stored (some small icon next to files or something) otherwise you'll probably no know unless you've filled up the SD card before hand.

On that note, when you connect the phone to your PC you do get access to the SD card and it will act as a mass storage device from what I heard. But having said that I don't think you get access to the internal storage in the same way. Also the SD card is for user content and not apps, apps can't install to it or use it as a write target. They only have read-only access to the SD card.

I'd be glad if it works like Windows Phone 7. :) I am pretty happy with my 40GB Focus ;)
