Ma New Whip VROOOOOOOOOOM

Muhahahah! Got my new car. Well.. My third one in three months. I think this will be the one that I keep and build. It's a project car, but a daily driver as well. It's in great shape, it's 23 years old. It's a pig. It has an Olds 307 V8. It's... HUGE.

Meet my new 1989 Buick Electra Estate Wagon.

More pics to follow, it's dark now. Just drove it 500km home. I'm in love. It's like riding on a cloud. All the electronics work, it's got minor cosmetic defects but mechanically all there... Going to take apart the carb this week and give it a thorough cleaning though, running rich, will see what I can nail it down to.

I love it. Brings back memories. Wished they still made station wagons. I miss them.

Wow, for a 23 year old car it looks really great. Hope you have lots of fun putting it all in shape. I recently bought a 1990 Volvo 740 GLE and I'm in the process of restoring all the interiors and taking care of a few electrical problems it has but it runs really good and since it's a 4 cylinder it economic enough. It is in very good physical shape all over and just needs a good shine. Think I'll post a few pics when you post yours.

Goodness me, it looks like a tank!

Does it drive allright?

Like a dream. It's no sports car, but it's like riding your couch.

I LOVE station wagons. Europe and Australia and the rest of the world still have em, why can't we?

Yes! She's pretty good. I LOVE Volvo wagons. I want a 240 when I'm done with this project. Mine too, needs a paint buff on some spots, a good wash and in the future a vinyl refresh for the wood vinyl. Right now there's one bubble that got poked, and a tiny little fray elsewhere on the vinyl.

Whats the gas milage on these. Yeah I remember people having these. smooth when on the road.

Not entirely sure yet. Going to have to calculate it by hand. The gas gauge SEEMS a little wonky, although for this last part of the trip it was doing fine. Will need to do some further testing.

Congrats, man! You can stiffen the suspension a bit, depending on your budget, to add some character to it!

Unless you and I understand the term differently, there are still plenty of station wagons to choose from )

What you see in that picture is a station wagon. They do not make anything like that in the US anymore.

They still do make station wagons, they are just sit a little higher and are now called SUV's. But don't tell the SUV owners, they will get bent out of shape.

I agree, plus there are minivans nowadays out there too. However, I actually had in mind models like MB E-Class Wagon, Audi A6 Avant/Allroad, Volvo XC70, etc.

Ford stopped making it, but the Taurus Wagon was one of the last "true" station wagons sold here

Could you explain what qualifies for a "true" station wagon?

I suppose, if it's not American, it's not a true station wagon, is it?

Yeah, I plan on throwing stiffer Bilsteins all round.

The Olds 307 in this monster is dog-slow. Looking for an Olds 350

You guys forgot this!

Anyway that car you got is quite interesting!

No I didn't forget that monstrosity...that brand is dead to me.

Sorry. Not a true station wagon in my opinion. We have a Cadillac Escalade. But it isn't a true station wagon.

What classifies as a "true station wagon"? what manufacturers label it as? the interior capacity? I believe insurance companies still label them as wagons, not suv's or maybe that is dmv...I dont remember, but I do know that they are classified as wagons, not trucks or light trucks or the moniker "sport utility vehicle". So however the manufacturer labels it....they can label it pink purple dotted flying unicorn, that won't change what it is.

For me, it is the classic look, that when you see it, your mind tells you: station wagon!

I look at a suv and think raised up station wagon. they have that long nose, that long rear window, many have (or at least used to have reversible rear seats), newer station wagons had level folding rear seats so that you had more trunk room which the suv's have as well, 3rd row seating (larger suvs have that)....so while the nose has become more aerodynamic, it has retained the same base shape through the years while gaining some height and a refresh to the name so that people would buy it vs calling it a "station wagon". "sport utility vehicle" sounds nicer and is more appealing, but wipe out that name and it in fact is the same vehicle.

The ONLY difference is that it's taller. SUV's for the most part I mean, different body proportions. My Electra has the same clearance as my buddy's blazer, has truck tires and not car tires and has about 2-3 ft in length. I agree with you on the fact that the SUV is the evolution of the wagon, but I think these wagon-purists (myself included) like the lo-pro body inherent to the wagon.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.178 changelog: Fixed certain extensions not working as expected. (#56271) Fixed inability to use Brave Sync in certain cases. (#55203) Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.196.
