Backup & restore windows mail messages without exporting?

I'm troubleshooting a Vista system that doesn't load the user profile data, so when I go into Windows Mail the account and messages don't show up, therefore the standard method of backing up by exporting doesn't work. How do I import the messages and contacts to be used on a different system? Oh yeah, and the new system is 7 Home Premium, so I need to get the files into Windows Live Mail instead. I can open up the individual messages from Windows Explorer.
