Marines take "Big Dog" for walkies in the woods

I thought this was really cool and wanted to share. If you like big robots that move in ways that look realistic, check this out. I'm impressed with it moving over different level rocks very well.

That thing is creepily cool. I want one lol. It's nice to see how far the technology for this is progressing though. I'm surprised they haven't stuck a kinect in it yet though. Maybe they're saving that for "Big Dog 2".

This is cool and all, but when will they invent a robot <snipped>? I'm sure if you put guns on anything it will be scary, but imagine a Terminator prancing around the battlefield like our current robots do.

Snipped due to offensive post to some readers.

Seems awfully loud, not very useful if you want to conceal your position, and if you start taking fire and need to take cover, that thing would be a very large bullet magnet that with all your extra gear hanging off it.

Seems like a good start, but we're a long way from sending it Afghanistan I'd say.

Have you any idea how hard bipedal motion is?

Its not just putting one foot in front of the other.

For those who have been to war, you'd understand why I think it's pointless.

Battery charger? Come on, I never had a battery die on me and there should be no less than 4 radio's per squad. As for extra rounds and what not, my buddies have carried 1200 rounds in they assault pack, but that's the MOS they chose. This is just more equipment we'll have to worry about on the battlefield, and I can guarantee you if one ever gets blown up or left out there because it doesn't work properly, soldiers would have to risk their lives trying to recover it.

This isn't Battlefield 2142 or Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Not in it's current form no, but eventually once the tech reaches a good enough level these things could be used for reconnaissance or even as an attack drone, the military already uses unmanned drones in the sky, why not on the ground.

I understand how complicated and advanced this is, and I'm always impressed (and intimidated) at the progress that is being made, but I was just making an observation.

The video stated it used to go on patrol, not to go out and seek the enemy.

Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
