I understand UFC 154 is all about GSP's return but I hope they make a trailer like that for Condit. Especially since he has more finishes than GSP that belong on an highlight reel.

Agree. This will be a decent scrap with gsp probably getting a decision win.

So here's the card.

Preliminary Card (Facebook)

Steven Siler vs Darren Elkins - Siler is 3-0 in the UFC but still can't get himself out of the Facebook cards because he has the charisma and personality of a wet paper bag. On the other hand, Elkins is 3-0 at FW and took a major drop into the Facebook portion of the card. Probably as punishment for exposing Diego Brand?o and Zhang Tiequan, therefore screwing with the UFC's expansion plans into China and Brazil.

Stephen Thompson vs Besam Yousef - Wonderboy is back after his loss to Matt Brown of all people. I'm curious to see if he shored up his grappling game. If not, he'll be an easy prey, providing Yousef doesn't get himself kicked out of conscience.

Ivan Menjivar vs Azamat Gashimov - Menjivar went from a fight with Renan Bar?o for a Interim title to a fight with Mike Easton for next in line status. But he lost. And now he's on the Facebook portion of the card welcoming a 7-1 russian guy that nobody has ever heard of into the UFC. That loss is really working out for him.

Antonio Carvalho vs Rodrigo Damm - Carvalho is a weird one. He holds a win over Hatsu Hioki in his prime but loses his UFC debut against Felipe Arantes, a guy who's practically already cut from the UFC. As for Damm, his only claim to glory is the win he holds over Jorge Masvidal, which is not saying much. I don't really see a future for him in the UFC but he's still getting some fights due to his participation in TUF Brazil.

Preliminary Card (FX) - Basically, CANADA vs other country.

Mark Bocek vs Rafael dos Anjos - It would be "funny" if Rafael dos Anjos got his jaw broken yet again like in the Clay Guida fight. Bocek is a very complete LW in terms of striking and grappling, only stumbling against the absolute top tier of the division. I don't think Rafael has the overall skills to beat him. His shutdown of George Sotiropoulos was great, but whenever he fought a guy on Bocek's level or lower, he lost.

Sam Stout vs John Makdessi - Stout is back where he belongs, the undercard, instead of clogging up the PPV with a meaningless trilogy. The formula for beating Makdessi is simple: if you can't grapple him to bits, keep him at range. Anthony Njokuani did it. Stout doesn't have the kicking arsenal of Njokuani but it think he will be able to punish Makdessi at will when he rushes in. Makdessi is pretty much fighting for his job here, being 2-2 in the UFC.

Nick Ring vs Costa Philippou - Ring keeps winning controversial decisions (in the eyes of some people). I think Philippou is going to push for the finish has he normally does but Ring has the grappling skills to dictate the fight. It should be interesting.

Patrick C?t? vs Alessio Sakara - C?t?'s loss to Cung Le was dumb and entirely his fault, so I hope he really brings it in order to continue his employment with the UFC. As for Sakara, I don't really know. It's been 2 years since he won a fight and nobody even remembers how it went. In the end, it's still one of the toughest chins in MMA against one made entirely of glass. I don't expect it to last more than 2 rounds.

Main Card

Mark Hominick vs Pablo Garza - Hominick took a tough loss against Eddie Yagin in his last outing. Garza took one as well, getting manhandled by Dennis Bermudez. 0-3 meets 0-2 in a battle that will dictate who will remain employed. Garza has a very long range but Hominick already showed he knows how to beat that when he finished off George Roop. I hope he can get his groove back. If he loses this, he'll probably retire.

Cyrille Diabat? vs Chad Griggs - This is just a step down from the ridiculous idea that was Davis vs Griggs. Griggs skillset is simple: he hits HARD. So they put him against one of the rangiest guys in the division. Diabat? can't grapple his way to a win against Griggs due to the ground and pound factor, but he can certainly pick him apart from the outside. This will either be a short fight that ends in (T)KO or a 3 round 30-27 decision.

Francis Carmont vs Tom Lawlor - Carmont is a physical beast, with huge range. Lawlor is being setup to be the sacrificial lamb here but if given a chance, he can turn the tables like in the Jason MacDonald fight. Still, I think the physical prowess of Carmont, combined with his training at Tristar, will be on full display and Lawlor will have a very tough fight on his hands.

Martin Kampmann vs Johny Hendricks - Number #1 contender fight for the belt. Rangy, precise striker with grappling acumen against strong puncher with wrestling skills. What's not to like?

Georges St-Pierre vs Carlos Condit - GSP, most dominant WW since Matt Hughes, greatly surpassing him. Dominates the opponents. Can't get a finish to save his life. Condit, a very exciting fighter who tries hard for finishes and most of the times gets them. For the future WW endeavors, it would be nice if Condit won. Still, 50-45 GSP is the most likely scenario. One can only pray and hope for a finish.

Kampmann/Hendricks seems to have been massively overshadowed by GSPs return, going to be an intriguing one to watch after 16 months out!

Sure is, maybe he'll have some new tricks up his sl... 50-45!

UFC just put a lot of goodies on YouTube. This is quite an amazing fight and shows why Rory is a future WW champion.

Another crushing KO for Condit.

3 days away. Some changes ocurred in the undercard due to injury. Final version of the card is (in order):

Preliminary Card (Facebook)

Steven Siler vs Darren Elkins

Ivan Menjivar vs Azamat Gashimov

Matthew Riddle vs John Maguire

Antonio Carvalho vs Rodrigo Damm

Preliminary Card (FX)

Sam Stout vs John Makdessi

Mark Bocek vs Rafael dos Anjos

Cyrille Diabat? vs Chad Griggs

Patrick C?t? vs Alessio Sakara

Main Card

Mark Hominick vs Pablo Garza

Nick Ring vs Costa Philippou

Francis Carmont vs Tom Lawlor

Martin Kampmann vs Johny Hendricks

Georges St-Pierre vs Carlos Condit

Everyone made weight, some fighters even had a pound to spare. Everything is ready to go.

Seems like I spoke too soon. Nick Ring vs Costa Philippou is cancelled, Ring is sick and wasn't cleared to fight. Patrick C?t? vs Alessio Sakara moves up to the Main Card and the same thing will happen to a Facebook fight (hopefully Ivan Menjivar vs Azamat Gashimov).

Main event was sick. I cannot believe I read on a few MMA blogs that Condit should have won. He did good damage to GSP, but GSP completely controlled three rounds, and most of another. The Johny Hendricks KO on Martin Kampmann was awesome. I kind of figured it would go that way. He is called "Big Rig" because he most certainly hits like one. Martin never gives up in fights, so this just shows how hard Johny really hits. Carlos Condit did not look too happy when Hendricks said he, "cleared out the division", lol.

GSP is going to beat the **** out o... 50-45.

I'm sure GSP is going to go all out and push for a brut... 50-45 NEVER DIE!

Sure is, maybe he'll have some new tricks up his sl... 50-45!

Two 50-45 scores. Surprising, eh?

    • EA launches in-game advertising platform for brands to "connect with audiences" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The gaming giant Electronic Arts is exploring more ways to inject real-life brands into its games. Announced today as EA Advertising, the new platform is attempting to make it easier for brands to reach out for deals with the company and put their products inside titles like EA Sports FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, or The Sims. EA revealed that its EA Sports side of the company brings in "hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile" every year. Fan engagement of these titles was also touted as being "extraordinary," with 23,000 NFL seasons worth of games being played in Madden NFL daily, while EA Sports FC sees over a billion matches a day. “Players come to EA’s games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect,” said David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts. “That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we’re helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players.” Using the new program EA Advertising, brands will be able to inject their products into games in real-time via dynamic placement. EA says partners will have access to everything from stadium signage in sports games and targeted adverts to in-game content custom-made for the brands. These are described as additions designed to "enhance, not disrupt" experiences. "In these interactive gameplay environments, brands become part of the game itself, reflecting how players engage with advertising in real-world contexts," adds the company "Brands can activate across live environments, tailoring placements to meet campaign objectives, and update campaigns with ongoing optimization informed by aggregated engagement insights." Current real-world brand partnerships EA has built into its games include Visa (EA Sports FC and College Football), Lowe's (EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and College Football), Red Bull (EA SPORTS FC), Xfinity and Peacock (EA SPORTS FC), and Mountain Dew’s (College Football).

    • UK to ban under-16s from social media following a six-week trial with teenagers by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels A few months ago, Neowin reported that the UK was trialing a social media ban with 300 teenagers for six weeks, that testing has come to an end, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the country will ban under-16s from social media. Starmer said that this technology is making children unhappy and making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them. He continued to talk about the addictive nature of social media, saying that it uses an infinite scroll designed to lock users in for hours. He said this interferes with children doing their homework, reading, playing with friends outside, and going to bed on time. Tackling the idea that nothing can be done about social media, Starmer said: The government’s action won’t stop at social media either, the PM said. It plans to take action on gaming services and livestreaming platforms. Right now, he said, strangers can contact any child unchecked. He said this wouldn’t happen in real life, and the government is going to stop it from happening online, too. The Labour government has overseen the introduction of the Online Safety Act, a big change to the internet which includes age verification on adult websites. This has led to a fair bit of backlash, but overall, the government is pushing ahead with these changes.
