How do I enable a shellstyle.dll in Y?z toolbar???

Focus here Casper...Yz's toolbar is a seperate application that changes the toolbar icons.

You need to have the program running if you want the toolbar icons changed.

You can get the aero theme from the previously posted link.

If you change the shell32.dll then windows takes care of the toolbar icons.

The shellstyle.dll only skins the taskpane on the right in my computer and some other backgrounds in the conrtol panel and such.

Hope this helps.

hi windowsx well i'm new here... even thought i registered long ago.. anyways i've been using ur pack for a long time and i would like to thank you for everything you've done. really a superb job over there. lastly regarding the pic u posted is there a way where u can preview each of the sections like wads m6 pic and PDC and so on? if ur not able to add this ability in the installer are u able to upload pics to ur webpage showing the different types? please hope u can do this for me.. i'm unsure ... thank you. everyone enjoy.

Wow I can't believe how big this thread is :D

For everyone wanting my SmartbarXP skins.. I still have to finish the slate theme (it's about 80% done) and last night I decided I didn't like it well enough and I wanted to make a sidebar skin closer to the AERO version of the side bar (click HERE to see it) so I've now got that one about 50% finished and will post a shot of it if anyone wants to see it.. and once I get those finished up I will post all of the skins here for everyone to download.

Also the image viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer) is a .DLL in the system32 dir named shimgvw.dll . You could replace XP's shimgvw.dll with LH 4008 or 4015's shimgvw.dll and it would give You the black Picture Viewer minus the new editing tools and it wouldn't display the pictures title in the taskbar it only gave you a hyphen.. but when You try to replace XP's shimgvw.dll with the PDC 4051 shimgvw.dll , it doesnt work at all nothing comes up.

For Windows X , I have every build of Longhorn that leaked so make me a list of files that you need and I will try to get them to you.

I seriously can?t wait for the theme by Windows X to be released! I mean she has done/is doing such a great job with that theme!

Has she told anyone of you when she will release it? I mean, looking at the screenshots, it looks pretty complete to me!

I also want to thank all of you who have helped me with Y?z Toolbar etc...

hehe i think its not far away :woot:

i hope that tomorrow the smartbarxp themes will be finished and the slate visual style is finished...

i know i dont need longorn pdc edition anymore, xp will be better :D

Thanks for your work, windows x, and dont forget your homework

first off its he...not sh:):)

and as far as i know.... he finished it today (around 2am his time) ....so im going to assume sometime tonight/early tomorrow morning it shoudl be released

and btw...its 5:37pm my time ...so hopefully itll come out soon...i think the only reason he didnt do it earlier is because he has to upload it and he was extremely tired

one more thing.... he said the pack should be about 19mb .

Okay...hehe sorry about the "she" thing....I thought he was a she because other said so a few pages back....

It?s 00.45 AM here so I?ll probably go to bed now and hope for it to be released tomorrow.

It?s said to be a transformer pack...what does that mean exactly? What will be included in the package?

Let this pic explain itself.

1. Background of radio and checkbox buttons should match form background.

2. You should have explanation text below "Install Options".

3. Use Slate style buttons in the wizard by having images and swapping them in MouseEnter/MouseLeave.

4. Don't call the pack "Longhorn".

5. The title bar should say "Install Longhorn Transformation Pack 4.0".

Just some constructive UI criticism. :) The new LTP sounds great!

I did a search in the windows dir of my build 4051, and I could not find resimages.dll.

As for the new picture viewer, check the attached image.

I did a search after installing Longhorn 4051 and resimages.dll is not included with this build.....

Post shimgvw.dll. Also, please post any other DLLs you think might have graphics. :) Thanks.

    • It is silly there is no simple way to check whether this profile has been activated. CFRs are normal, but trying to even hide the fact if it's on / off seems silly, especially for something so user-facing. Surely Microsoft is "proud" of their engineering efforts on this one and ought to display it somwhere in the GUI.
    • Many Linux distros are not known for excellent battery life, so I'm not sure that is the best example. A more apt example may be Apple, but Apple's CPUs are simply far more efficient than Intel & AMD at single-threaded tasks like these, so "boosting" is not as power-hungry and less heat-inducing. Not to mention Apple will hardly engage P-cores for basic UI tasks; they use a pretty complicated QoS scheme to only activate P-cores for more serious workloads like HTML / JS execution or decompression or application launch. Microsoft is (smartly) doing it for launch, but also for UI tasks, which is the more nonsensical part: why ... do Windows 11's UIs need modern CPUs to boost? It should load so quickly that there's not even time for the CPU to boost.
    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
