All Slate 1.0 is an updated Visual Style of Slate Beta with two colors and two shellstyles to choose from. The Longhorn Trans Pack ver. 4.0 has not been released yet. The options you ask about will be with the Pack when released.

...and:

  • titlebar and toolbars in Explorer and IE match when using Slate PDC
  • title bars are now in Tahoma 8
  • Windows flag on start button is a little larger
  • as you said, two new shellstyles and two colors
  • thin taskbar versions of both colors in both XP and PDC modes

Just wondering, if I replaced my shimgvw.dll with the Longhorn one, would Windows Image & Fax Viewer still work? Would the new features work? Thanks in advance.

No it won't work at all. You can however replace it with Longhorn 4008 or 4015's shimgvw.dll and it will open the black Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, but none of the new features will work and the name of the image doesn't display in the title bar or taskbar it only gives you a " - " .. and the image quality seems to be not quite as good unless the picture is in "actual size" view.

Great job Windows X. I'm loving the theme. My only question was in IE the line inbetween File and the back button is that a glitch. Can it be removed?

I can't figure out how to remove those lines either.. I've gone into the Shell32.dll and removed the flag but I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove those lines.. heres the lines we're talking about... anyone have any ideas?

BTW, does anyone know a solution to my WFP boxes? Usually, when I boot up I get a box asking me to put in my XP disc, so it can replace my patched UXTheme with the original SP1 version. Does anyone have a solution for this (I'm perfectly fine with disabling WFP, I don't however know how)?

GREAT job "Windows X"!!! I love your work!!!

Waiting for the Longhorn Pack!

Here's a screanie of my desktop (which is not boring any more)

How did u get the back button above file?

What do you mean? If you're talking about Explorer toolbar icons, Google Y'z Toolbar.

I attached the pic again. Look beside the address bar. You can see, File, View, Help etc.

    • My son is in Monaco right now, and I was checking his location in Apple's Find My app. I noticed that Prince Albert's Palace was blurred out on the satellite imagery in both Find My and Apple Maps. I checked Google Maps, and the palace wasn't blurred there. Does Apple have some kind of process where property owners can request that their homes be blurred on Apple Maps?
    • No, it was THAT ugly and I’d rather forget it completely existed.
    • There is a lot of reasons not to use Edge but faster fixes and security updates is not one of them.
    • Can't reproduce. I installed Edge, went to neowin.net > accepted the cookie consent > used menu to go to forums, everything loads and I can browse around the forums. If you can't interact with the dialog on the forums for some reason, go to the main site and accept the cookie consent there? It is true that the site will not function properly until the cookie consent is accepted or rejected,. it's a legal requirement and I also know that certain VPN/ad blockers block it, which is a user related issue and not a neowin.net problem.   This is not our cookie consent dialog. Gotta love browser hijacking... /s Edit: this may be what Californians see, I will confirm with our consent provider.
