I am just hacking the Logoff and Shutdown Screens. - This has to be done within the DLL files to change the images for Shell32.dll and msgina.dll - so I am swapping them for the PDC versions :D will help make Windows X's theme be more complete for my 'puter' :)

Cheers

Cat..

Yep ! Sure Can :)

Heres the images - ripped right out of build 4051 ;)

Note that the shutdown icons are the same as Windows XP in this build so there was no point in including those - as you dont really need to replace them :D

thanks.how about those for the log off and switch users one? and what does that toolbarfix do? i dont see a change...

Windows X: If you like my sidebar when it is finished, could you include it in LTP 4.1? It is supposed to be authentic to the original as much as possible, with just one change: each module has a title section.

What I need to do is:

1. Add Preferences... and Add/Remove Modules... functionality

2. Allow user to disable modules and enable them

3. Add Host commands for persisting settings

4. Add lots more modules

5. Add hands to the clock

Here's how it's coming so far:

Hi I just added a new thread on here where I have given a download link to the DLL's I have hacked. (tested and working) ! Also includes a preview of it in my thread. (damn thing double posted though) :(

But you will find the DLL's and original files - the Bitmaps in that download. I included a readme file on everything I did and that needs to be done too.

Cat.

WindowsX, dunno if this already is mentioned but, the caption bar automatically resizing (depending on the file or folder that someone clicks) becomes irritating after a while. Is their any way to lock it in place?

Yes I know what you mean too - its a bit awkward. Try clicking on an icon, and it jups up or down, as the filters are opening or closing. etc. Its a bit tricky, so I tend to clik an icon once then double click it to open. other wise you might get caught clicking the wrong icon ! - its still a nice feature of this theme though. Nice.

Ya I love this feature aswell but is there anyway to fix this bug?

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
