Up until about 2 months ago mine was 90% until I acquired a new windows 7 machine for my server. Then I added an SSD as a boot drive and am now running 100% SSD Which is 6 machines 1 of which gave to my parents but it's still mine.

So what % of your machines have an SSD?

100%. My HP laptop, Macbook Pro, Mac Mini server, and desktop PC all have SSD in them (OCZ). They are so cheap right now, it's worth every penny to convert them all. Recently bought another Vertex 4 256GB for $175. Crazy cheap!

Gonna Get SSD when i can for my Toshiba Laptop, Despite it still runs XP unforuately, may look into SSD for Parents PC in the future, This Desktop here i only got 1 internal bay for a hard drive, so not sure on getting SSD yet for this one, not sure where i'd put all my data at lol--(Music, PIctures, Documents, etc)

I don't have an SSD, and I don't know anyone with one.

Although I'd like to get one or more, the price is just not worth it at this point, and now that you've got 4TB HDDs showing up............................................................

50%. Primary Desktop has one (128GB Samsung 830), Primary Laptop has one (256GB Samsung 830).

Don't feel the need to have one in my server and I've just removed the one from my secondary laptop (after getting the OCZ drive replaced 6 times in 2 years I've put back in a regular HDD until I buy a more reliable brand).

You don't need a bay for an SSD as they're tiny and you can just lay them or velcro them to your pc.

Zero. None. Still fully on the spinning ones :/ Hey, at least I know my PC is working because I can hear it working :D

Yeah, because HDD noise correlates directly to a PC working :p SSD's are great, but I still need HDD's to store data on, so I still have 2 HDD's in my desktop just for that reason. I use my desktop to stream media to my netbook and some other devices around the place

My and my wives main workstation's have an Intel 520, 120GB for the boot drives, my carputer has an Mushtek 240GB mSata drive as its primary, and I have 2 80 GB Intel SSD's in external drives as swap outs for my car media. Only machine in the house that doesn't have an SSD is my server which has 16 2TB drives in for long term storage needs all RAID'ed.

    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/
    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
