Need to buy a (drawing) tablet

Recommended Posts

My sister loves to draw in Photoshop. She's very artistic. For Christmas, I would like to buy her a new tablet as her current one is slowly dying :(

I'm looking to spend $200 - $250 CDN, and want to buy it online (preferably TigerDirect.ca, Amazon.ca, or Canada Computers).

First of all, is $200 - $250 realistic? I have no idea what these things cost.

Second, just in case anybody is unclear, when I say "tablet" I do NOT mean something like an iPad.

Finally, I'll be giving her my old MacBook (running OS X 10.7.4, I believe; I'm also going to put Windows 7 on there). So, the tablet needs to be USB 2.0-compatible.

Thanks!! :)

Both the Wacom Intuos5 (small) and Wacom Bamboo Create are in your budget, I would definitely recommend either of those. Before switching to a Cintiq display I tried out loads of tablets, of the ones I tried those two were the best in the $200-250 range (although I used the medium Intuos5, not the small one).

The Intuos5 series is more sensitive (pressure levels / angles) but the Bamboo Create has a larger drawing area.
