"Jack the Giant Killer" Gets New Title & Earlier Release Date

Recommended Posts

Briefly: It's been about 10 months since the first trailer for Jack the Giant Killer arrived, and since then we haven't heard anything bout Bryan Singer's fantasy adventure. That changes today as Warner Bros. has announced the film will now be called Jack the Giant Slayer (probably because it tested better with families), and it will now arrive three weeks earlier on March 1st, 2013 in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D theaters. Starring Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, Bill Nighy, Eleanor Tomlinson and Ewan McGregor, the film tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. It's about damn time this hit theaters.

Here's the first trailer for Jack the Giant Slayer with the film's old title:

A modern fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer

(Hoult) leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.

Jack the Giant Slayer is directed by filmmaker Bryan Singer, of Public Access, The Usual Suspects, Apt Pupil, X-Men, X2, Superman Returns and Valkyrie previously. The screenplay is by Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), Christopher McQuarrie (Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Dan Studney (Reefer Madness: The Musical). Warner Bros is bringing Jack the Giant Skayer to theaters starting March 1st, 2012. Still in?

Never heard of it, but the thread title made me think of this:

Who shall be our seventh, Wilfred?

- Why, need I say more? Jack.

Not mad bully-boy Jack, the grave robbing assassin of Aldwich?

- No.

Then crazed-animal Jack, the cattle rustling cannibal from Sutton-Coalfield?

- Ha ha... no.

Then your mans sane Jack O'Hooligan the man-hating goat-murderer of Dingle Bay.

- No.

Surely not Canon Jack Smollett senior Arch-deacon of the Diocese of St Bothar, the entrail-eating heretic of Bath and Wells?

- No. I'm talking of unspeakably-violent Jack, the bull-buggering beast-killer of no-fixed-abode.

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
