What's really new in IE10?

I was wondering - besides one number higher - what is really different and which improvements have been made to IE10 as compared to IE9?

To make it short: CSS3 and HTML5 implementation. Lots of them! Plus it has a more responsive JavaScript engine.

From what I have read and experienced, It is More standards compliant (i didn't say it was perfect) but it is better than 8 and 9 were as far as standards. It has come a VERY long way from 6 and 7

That's not because IE10, that is because Win8, it have flat select lists (and other ui elements)

I believe IE10 also has an auto-update that doesn't entirely rely on windows update
