I love a good hack, especially one that requires me to throw back a cold one before hand (or during). This simple wifi boost has actually been shown to increase signal strength by at least 2 to 4 bars. And, well, I will drink to that.

These instructions came to us via WikiHow and we think they are most definitely worth checking out. But here is the most important question: what kind of beer will you use?

For this project you are going to need scissors, a utility knife, some adhesive putty and an empty beer can. More than one empty beer can is acceptable but don?t kid yourself, the router only needs the one.

The first step is to wash out your empty beer can, unless of course said beer is a can of <your beer of choice>. If it is American beer -- which tastes like pee -- promptly go drink a better beer. You really should be ashamed of yourself.

Once the can has dried, you will want to remove it?s pull tab.

Only perform this next step if you have not been drinking. Using the utility knife, saw off the bottom of the can. Chances are your can will not have a red dotted line. If you see one, put down the knife?you?ve had too much beer.

You?ll notice in the above step that the can?s pull tab has returned. Clearly, there are only two possible reasons for this. One, you are really drunk and you never removed the tab in the first place. Or ? the more likely answer ? beer cans can regenerate themselves.

It?s the home stretch! You just need to attach your modded beer can to the wifi router. Hopefully no other parts of the can have actually grown back. You now have beer-fi!

So, what kind of beer did you use?

I tried it since the wifi signal in my house sucks (and its a small house too). Didn't do anything as far as I could tell, but mine was a half-arsed attempt using the hole in the top to keep it in place.

Maybe you used the wrong can, a coca cola can?

Will a Monster energy can work? :)

Out of all seriousness, I have read about some of these hacks, (Pringles Can bring back any memories?), which supposedly boost the signal. All the can is doing is reflecting the signal more directly. But if you stop and think about it, wouldn't that reduce the signal in the opposite direction? For example, I am in a small (650 sq ft) apartment. My router is running DD-WRT and sits in a a cubby in my desk. The signal is dampened by lots of wood around it and behind it. Yet, everywhere in the apartment (granted small area), I get some strong signals. Even outside in the parking lot, I can connect.

certainly will try

But I am almost quite certain that I will need a hardware dedicated booster , because my router is in the 3rd floor, while I have PCs in 1st, 2nd floor with no signal in the 1st floor

What do you call this booster? Access point?

Has anyone ever tried that? I looks like it might help.

It should help, not sure about broadcasting boost, it might help slightly with directional if your laptop was somewhere infront of that can, but to catch the client signal (laptop etc) there is now a 1000% bigger area for the signal to reach and bounce to the antenna

I've seen people create directional client cantennas that can pick up wifi signals from a lot further away than the antenna on its own can reach ( USB wifi dongle & pringles can)

What if you have a ****ty AT&T router/wifi hotspot with no antennae?

GET THIS HARDCORE REPEATER!!!!!! OR THIS ACCESS POINT!!!!! I HAVE THE ACCESS POINT AND ITS GOT HARDCORE COVERAAAAAAAGGGEEEE!!!!

An autonomous AI system built by researchers at Amazon's A-EVO-Lab completed a full post-training run on a 30 billion parameter NVIDIA Nemotron model — with no human in the loop, across four rounds running over multiple weeks — and then did something its designers had not planned for: it detected that its own internal evaluation metric had become misleading and redesigned the search strategy it was using to improve itself. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319123/20260626/nvidia-ai-trained-itself-30b-model-corrected-its-own-broken-metric-mid-run.htm

    • If Ford would stop hiring SUITS to run the company, and put CAR GUYS back in charge perhaps they could do better. Heck, the only CAR they produce today is the Mustang. Hey Ford! Not everyone needs/wants an overpriced SUV or pickup truck that is so tall you have to have a step ladder to get in and out of it.
    • Amazing how some will just jump all over something. Probably the same people that thought Musk was a "tech god" before he saddled up with "bad orange man". Before, they worshiped at his feet, including a lot of so called hollywood types. Now, because he fell off the plantation truck, they toss him under the bus.
