ACTIONpack
Looking to buy Windows 8 for my computer. I'm trying to find out if this is the update version or the full version. I need the full version of Windows 8 Pro because the Windows 7 I have is blank ;-) The price seem too good to be true but if it is then I will get it. $68.88 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H3SW4I/ref=s9_simh_gw_p65_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=18ZGZ1GBC9PZGAHBXCJG&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1115399-is-this-updated-or-full-version-of-windows-8-pro/ Share on other sites

nub
It's an upgrade version. If you go to Windows 8 Professional System Builder DVD 64-Bit, it bears the message "Not sure if you need the upgrade version or the full version? You can purchase the upgrade version of Windows 8 if you're currently running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP on your PC. If you're not running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP on your PC, you'll need to purchase the System Builder version of Windows 8." which links to the version you posted. *RedBull*
I bought the upgrade Win8 pro for 39.99 off MS site. I had to rid of the dynamic disk on my laptop to dual boot it. Had to install Win7 Pro 64bit to upgrade as the install would not allow me to clean install. The win7 install was slower than the Win8. I actually miss the start menu. Funny how you can still pin stuff to your start from right click lol. I know where it goes. I was curious to see if it were faster what the big deal is. I really like Win7, so I'm still skeptical. Didn't want to bother with the free one. I have the free in a virtual machine. Of course it doesn't work as well so I clean installed retail upgrade. Still checking it out. I'm actually liking this Win8 pro. Now I get the that start menu morphed into a broader functional tool. It's actually looking pretty cool. :) Now if I can get the language pack I'll be alright... Neowon
Windows 8 for $14.99 (can be clean installed) Oh man really? Just buy the damn thing properly if you actually haven't bought a PC running either windows recently. 14.99 vs 39.99 is just chump change and this way you are actually buying it legitimately without lying about the purchase date.
