Trying not to derail comment, but here is a video of it in action.

with the words about and ]i can't tell a difference between his pronunciation of the words "about" or "house"... kind like maybe comparing the way Texans talk vs. people from New York Vs people from Mississippi.
i have lived here for 38 years now. Not once have I ever heard anyone say the word "aboot".

I'm a big fan of "How I Met Your Mother" television series that teases the reference of "about" by saying "a boat" but not "a boot." American's say it "a bout" like http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/about . Anyway, that's enough offtopicedness.
