Wallpaper? Edit... My working partition (Win7X64) :D (That's one of remixed cat minions in there)

We must be the only two people in the world who still have SonicStage installed (and use it, in my case).

I left a good chunk of music back in my country (FLAC)... used to have a Hi-MD, then used to have a lot of songs in Atrac3+... then switched to aac, but forgot to convert some good albums from flac...

And I'm so not going to transcode them..... it's not that bad though.

I used to have my whole CD collection in ATRAC3+ too. I always liked SonicStage, the tag editor was pretty good but slow. I only use it to put new music on my old Walkman now (which still has stellar audio quality).

It's a shame ATRAC3 died. It was really good at compression, and compression artifacts were much less annoying and audible than they are in MP3 or AAC.

Atrac3 indeed was a good codec, too bad they didn't went the same route as mp3, it could have literally, replaced mp3 back then... I still got my Hi-MD back in my country, but had to move to a 16 gb Walkman, audio quality is great too.

I used to use sonicstage with my sony circ 1GB player. that player still works after being put thru the wash!!! left it in my pocket and it got cleaned allright.... it still worked but all the tracks were deleted.I just put the tracks back on and it worked like it was still new LOL. wish more stuff was made that way!

sonicstage was ok but it was kinda wonky having an extra layer to go thru to transfer songs. I did love how good the compression was... just like I loooove how good .rmvb compression was for videos.... It enabled me to still download anime subs over dialup at a partially acceptable rate. whole eps under 40MB? hell yeah! now the average sub ep is like 400-500MB in HD though.... but at teh time .rmvb saved my ass. LOL.

Keeping it simple....my W8 start menu is pretty standard, so only a shot of the desktop:

The two first icons are actually menus; one for applications and one for games.

Care to share some more details on what software was used for your setup? Like for the menus in the taskbar and the modded explorer.

I appreciate my post is off-topic too, but I do wish that people who post their screenshots followed the guidelines set out in the first post then perhaps it would cut down the number of posts that are just asking for that information. Little bit annoying to find that there's been a new post on the thread and it just turns out to be just someone asking for the theme info and not posting a screenshot!

Did they change up how the Windows Experience Index works? In Windows 7 it's a scale of 1-7.9. Interesting.

Seems they up it by 2 with every major release

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-vista/Windows-Experience-Index-Understand-and-improve-your-computers-performance-in-Windows-Vista says Vista goes up to 5.9

    • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
