Disney Now Setting Its Sights On Hasbro?

Recommended Posts

Disney and George Lucas shocked the world last week, when they announced that Lucas had sold his LucasFilm studio, which includes the rights to Star Wars and most of its characters, to media giant. News and rumors have been pouring in as to when to expect more Star Wars related material, Disney has possibly turned their attention to buying up another company with more film and toy opportunities, Hasbro. According to MTV, Disney has been in contact with Hasbro about acquiring them. As of right now it is just talk, but the talks are serious enough that an announcement could be made at any day.

A move like this would normally take time, but Disney has been moving fast while trying to get deals done. It reportedly only took them 6 months to hammer out a deal with Lucas for LucasFilm. What also makes this interesting is that Hasbro holds the toy and table top game licenses to already owned Marvel, and newly bought Star Wars.

What that means for movies, is likely to be the same for the way it has worked with Marvel. Really the only active movie franchises that Hasbro has going right now is G.I. Joe and Transformers, both of which are parked at Paramount. MTV's report states that Disney could easily change that.

they can always make a movie about some hasbro game that has actually nothing to do with the game ;)

I don't think Disney will make Candy Land, sounds like a porn.. .Clue might work though or Risk or the Bop It Movie!! just 120 minutes of Bop it, pull it, smack it, bop it!

As long they don't touch LEGO or MECANO... that's alright.

I will be ****ed if they take over lego group..... they have been pushing their products into lego lately, they use to go after megablocks, but lego has the disney contract now and that has been kinda scaring me... kinda like how disney kept making starwars micky figures and stuff... almost like a bad omen

    • Limited Prime Day deal sees Amazon Echo Show 11 is at its lowest price yet by Ivan Jenic The Amazon Echo Show 11 is currently $149.99 on Amazon during Prime Day, down from $219.99. That's 32% off and $70 saved on Amazon's newest mid-size smart display (purchase link below). As its name suggests, the Echo Show 11 features a 11” Full-HD touchscreen, which is a decent upgrade over the Echo Show 8. It offers 60% more viewing area, which makes a genuine difference for recipes, calendars, video calls, or any other scenario where the smaller display can feel a bit cramped. The Show 11 is built around Alexa+, Amazon's more capable AI assistant that can handle natural conversation. You can make reservations, order groceries, and find content based on your preferences, instead of always having to give it precise commands. There’s also the Omnisense technology, which adds ambient awareness, allowing the device to trigger routines based on temperature, presence detection, or visual cues. Smart home control is built in without needing a separate hub, and the home screen doubles as a photo slideshow when not in use. Taking all of this into account, the Show 11 is a perfect smart addition to your kitchen counter or living room. At $149.99, this is a strong Prime Day buy for anyone already in the Amazon ecosystem or looking to build one out.
