Windows 8 on HTPC with desktop apps

I am not a fan of WIn 8 on the desktop but I think it can work really well with my HTPC since I can use the remote on the metro interface. The only major problem is when I launch a desktop app from the metro screen then exit I am left on the desktop. I would prefer to exit to the metro start screen..

Is there a way to be taken back to the metro interface when I exit?

You might be able to use event ghost and close the application using alt f4 which then triggers windows key ? Im pretty knew to event ghost but I know its very powerful but im sure its possible. I just recently changed my desktop over to windows 8 and had heaps of trouble getting my file shares on it to play nice with my windows 7 HTPC.
