Setting up Mail Server on RedHat Linux 9

Recommended Posts

hi,

I m trying to setup mail server on RedHat Linux 9.

Installed PostFix and configured the main.cf in /etc/postfix/.

Since i m going to use it for Local Network so i want domain as dee.com.

Here is what i have configured....

INTERNET HOST AND DOMAIN NAMES

myhostname = host.dee.com

mydomain = dee.com

SENDING MAIL

myorigin=$mydomain

RECEIVING MAIL

inet_interfaces = 192.168.0.33

mydestination = 192.168.0.33

mynetworks = 192.168.0.0/24, 127.0.0.0/8

INTERNET OR INTRANET

relayhost = [192.168.0.33]

Note : 192.168.0.33 is my machine/server's IP

now the problem comes when i start the PostFix.

when i write postfix start in the terminal it shows :

postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system

No errors anything and cursor moves to next line [root@dee postfix]#

and when i try to reload postfix..then it shows error saying :

postfix/postfix-script: fatal: the Postfix mail system is not running

I m worried that something is wrong with the configuration.

Let me know if u want me to attach main.cf also.

And if anyone knows better sofware for intranet mailing then pls suggest the names.

regards

Dee
