Gabe3
I've noticed the windows 7 samsung series 7 tablets with an i5, 4gb of ram, intel 3000 graphics going for 600-700 used, and $950 new. looking at the new samsung ativ 700t, it has higher res display, larger ssd, and slightly better graphics for $250 more. if you don't need these things, seems like the old series 7 would be a good choice? am I wrong? I'm curious if the touch screen tech is better in the new win8 tablets? I want to get the best tablet for the money, my budget is around $600, getting a older win7 tablet seems like it could be a good way to get the best specs for the money. I'll probably wait and see what a used ativ 700t goes for, but my guess it probably won't be under $800. Or maybe a acer W700, no sd slot on the W700 is kinda a deal breaker. The Evil Overlord
I would have thought that the win7 tablet could run win8 fine, tho win8 wasn't my cup of tea, it is supposed to be great even on older hardware, I suppose there could be one or two issues with the touch hardware maybe, but all in all, I can't think of a reason why you couldn't get a win7 tab and just buy a win8 upgrade for it, and it not to work. Dot Matrix
Skip 7. Trust me. I had a Win7 tablet, and the UX is horrible. You're going to have to up the DPI scaling to at least 125% or even 150% to get the UI elements to be touchable. goretsky Supervisor Posted November 21, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted November 21, 2012 Hello, I have a Samsung Series 7 Slate that came with Microsoft Windows 7 that I purchased for testing Windows 8 on. It worked well with both operating systems, but for touch-centric functionality, Windows 8 outshines Windows 7.
