As a scientist, I know two things about this topic.

1. This date, whatever it turns out to be, is no different from the transition from 31st December to 1st January (it's the re-booting of a calendar). It's as likely we'll see the end of the world in either case.

2. Archaeologists say it could be anywhere from the 21st of December to Christmas Day that this re-booting actually takes place.
