Post Your Workstation Photos

Don't worry. Thats fine. Unless your rendering or doing something with photoshop or developement, or of course games, I've learned faster doens't really give you much. Noticed the most speed increase from my Raptor RAID array, but from my wifes 1.3 to my 3, I really don't notice a difference. Maybe a bit more perky, but thats all. Like I said, I give up trying to stay current. WAAAY to expensive.

maybe, but its gone past current :(

And the case is horrible, its beige with green bits :( I suppose i could buy a new one

hmmm

Here is a quick panorama I did to test out PTgui (stitching is a bit messed up and it's low quality because I used a Hi8 Camcorder!). It's one side of my office where the best bits are:

Left to right:

Tablet PC: Toshiba Portege 3500

Workstation: 15" Dell 1501FP & 18" NEC 1860NX LCDs (Athlon 2500+ @ 2.4Ghz, 9800Pro256 XP SP1)

Media Center PC: Toshiba Satellite P20-504

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite A30-203

Server: 19" Iiyama VM Pro 450 (Pentium 3 1Ghz, Geforce 3, Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition)

Linux: 21" Sony 520GS (Pentium 2 450Mhz, Geforce 2 GTS, Redhat Linux 9)

nice setup pablo, I wish I could have room and a desk like yours :D

Thx, I work from home so it's easy to justify although the wife remains skeptical. She thinks of it more as a perfectly good guest room that's going to waste...a garage or loft conversion is next - that'll be good though, reduce the cable management issues with lots of power outlets and network ports in the walls and maybe even a rack!

Yeah it is a little cramped - can usually get away with just using the workstation with Terminal Services/VNC to the servers and the laptops stack nicely! For multiplayer gaming though it's a case of clearing away unused keyboards!

Depending on what happens next - new doom3station (ahem Workstation!), garage conversion or other, I'll probably need to invest in a KVM switch to just be able to fit things in.

    • The level of stupidity at Google and Microsoft is beyond belief. All they are doing by killing this is forcing people to jump over to Firefox and ditch them all together, therefore giving Firefox the market boost it needs to finally crush them all in the end.
