where i work we use all dell stuff i nthe office, ok i very much prefer my home PC ,but i would not say the build qualit yof any of their products is bad. They manufacture in bulk, this is how they make things cheap, and manufacturing in bulk doesn talways mean poor build quality.

alu would be nice, but the build quality of this thing is secodn to none, i think dell take quality very seriously.

LOL

Do you own any dell products? ROFL if you do.

I own 4 new dell dimensions and lots of other dell peripherals. The qualoty on all of them is terrible. Ever look inside a dell computer? do it and then come back and post.

The only reason I buy so much dell stuff is because of the price. Nothing Else.

*Edit*

1. I realized that I spelled Quality wrong, but it still works, so I will leave it there.

2. Dell's high end products are quite nice (xps, 2005fpw, 12" laptop, dj), but their medium and lower end is like crap (8000 series and below, tech support, mouse and keyboard)

LOL

well yeah, I agree ultrasharps are nice ( I own my fair share), but what about the non-ultrasharp ones? the ones made by samsung and not Benq?

they stink.

Ever used dell's low end laptops?

They stink.

Ever called dell tech support?

They stink. (lol, they are indian, but I didn't mean it that way.)

Here.

that is EXACTLY how my workstation would look like if I actually bought all my games like you. :)

seriously man, ever heard of bittorrent?

must be nice actually owning all your games though. I wish I could afford doing that.

obviously, you have no eyes, no offence. if you compare it to a high end sony/samsung/lg...you'd KNOW right away that the dell sucks penis

Very nice, sam. I like the mounted monitor/speakers. And IK, you can't afford games, but 4 nice monitors? :p

585382101

Well, if you added up the value of all my downloaded games and software...

30x PSone games = $30 x 30 = $900

49 Xbox games (Just the ones currently on the HDD, I had much more before) = $70 = 43 = $3010

10 PC games = $30= 1- = $300

Photoshop, MX suite 2004, office 2003 and 2004, and almost every software I own = over $2000

add tax and you are sitting in the $7141 chair.

I dont have $7141.

Thanks, everybody! I can't take the credit though, my dad pretty much made the entire setup (he has a knack for neatening things up real well, and he's picky about BEING neat, not that I have a problem with that :D ). This photo only shows about half of my game boxes (the rest are to the left of the frame). I wanted to display the computer game and hardware boxes I have collected over the years. I own about 80 PC games but only collected about 30 boxes (the bottom drawer is stuffed full of the jewel cases of the games, amazingly enough, all ~80 game jewel cases fit in there). I also have some boxes of hardware I have bought or got as presents over the years behind the viewpoint, too.

All the consoles connect to the LCD monitor and to the speakers. The controllers, as you can see, are stored in the top drawer, so I just open that up, and take out the controller I need.

The PowerMac G3 is just connected to the network since I have SETI@home running exclusively on it with Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.

Everything you see is plugged into a single UPS.

why would you pay to support a ridiculous project?

unless im mistaken about what SETI is.

585382219

SETI@home is free. It downloads radio satellite data from Berkeley University and the computer analyzes it for potential extraterrestrial radio signals. And I acquired the Macintosh for free from the high school I went to. The only thing that costs money for it is the power (and to a lesser extent the internet connection).

More info on SETI@home here.

Well yeah, you are paying for electricity. Why?

It's not like SETI has any real uses.

muwahaha

they are actually lying to you!

They are using all that cpu power to calculate how much money bill gates has accumulated!

Yeah, I guess we should just give up on space exploration. :p

Oh, and it's cheap to run. The peak power output is 200W, and it only costs about $8.76 per month (but that's at peak power). So, yeah, for the cost of a meal I can run this thing 24/7. :)

    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
