Close: It's the Sat Pro M-30, but 1.4 PM, 1GB Ram (upped from 256MB), 60GB (up from 40GB), and I don't know the video, but it's NVidea 32MB something or other. I love the widescreen, though. Never go back to a notebook with a normal aspect screen!

hrmmmm I really wish I had a laptop, maybe by the end of the summer ill have enough for a powerbook

Laptops are great: your whole PC in a small case to take anywhere! And I'm in complete agreement with Hypoxiaicon: widescreen is the way to go!

Here's what I'm sitting in front of right now:

desktop.jpg

It's somewhat of a modest setup, but hey, I'm a university student!  I have a much nicer desktop at home...

Hey, that's cool! I wish I had a separate keyboard as it's better for your back to elevate the laptop (which you can't do if you're using it as the keyboard).

Man, I envy you! I'm sunk deep in a spartan sparseness here (student myself as well, but a bit on the poorer side!).

Wow you could have paid for a new car or fully qualified a retirement fund for all of that

Considering the cases have been here for over a year, the P4 and board for almost 2, all that has been changed on them is the Drives, and the Aria cost $1050 to build, and the Mac Mini $800, I realize I had more to spend then others, but, I have always sold off my older equipment when I

upgraded, so the upgrades were about 30% in cost

One machine for Work, One for Gaming, one for usenet and misc crap, and the Mac Mini (hich has not been off for 2 weeks now) if it would only be able to play the games my PC can, it would be the only machine I would have needed.

I love the external keyboard. If there's one thing Microsoft does well, it's make keyboards and mice. I was always a Logitech fan until I got this set, but this made me a believer!

It also helps that the keyboard has a "natural" shape to it. I do a LOT of typing.

(Oh, and one more bit of praise for the MS set--I bought it in September, and I'm STILL running on the same set of AA batteries!)

Glad you like it!  Now I no longer feel embarrassed here at neowin!

Yeah, I think you're overestimating how much the desktops people post here cost. It's mostly average hardware in fancy cases and a display setup that probably cost more than the tower, but still no where near ?5000.

I've got the MS wheelmouse and have had it a while and am happy with it, but I like what you're saying about the whole battery thing and the split keyboard. I'll consider this to ask for a birthday present, I think, as I too do a lot of typing.

Maybe so. Especially given the weakness of the dollar these days. So, you're saying it's mostly "flash and trash" in this thread little substance?

Well, good on you, mate! My gran's got a 286 PC, believe or not, and it's got Word Perfect on it, and I can do all that's really necessary for my own life on that thing, believe or not (except write in to neowin)! I know there are gamers here and all that, and they want to see the blood splatter on the walls, but I feel I'm rocketing forward with my Toshiba Satellite Pro M-30, for all the mundane stuff I get up to!

:))

Heh I got my set from M$ in September... my batteries are still in the green zone as well...

Yep, it's Garden State. Written and directed by Zach Braff as well. I adore the film, seen it over 20 times easily, also spread the Garden State love by handing out DVDRs of it like they're leaflets :D

lol i do the same, i've given out over 30 copies so far and their parents love it, literaly

My last few keyboards and mice have been MS items, really nice to use ever day. Their mice are exceptionally good imo.

Dougal.

Microsoft Keyboards are the best, but their mice are not too great.

Logitech mice are the BEST.

    • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
