(Oh, and one more bit of praise for the MS set--I bought it in September, and I'm STILL running on the same set of AA batteries!)

Damn son lol. you must not game much. I replace mine every two months or so. Even then they last a while and i have a box of rechargables for my keyboards. Nothing like the freedom of wireless :p

What makes Logitech better?

It's not that Microsoft is bad. They have nice innovative designs and #1 tech support.

But

Logitech products, although more expensive, have higher quality builds and have features not offered by microsoft. Their tech support is pretty damn good too.

A standard Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 retails for $28, while an mx510 goes for $48.

The mx510 is much more accurate and responds to acceleration better. It also has handy cruise control buttons (you may not like them, but I do!).

If you don't believe me, go to futureshop and try both. You will see then.

I love the external keyboard.  If there's one thing Microsoft does well, it's make keyboards and mice.  I was always a Logitech fan until I got this set, but this made me a believer!

It also helps that the keyboard has a "natural" shape to it.  I do a LOT of typing.

I bought my mx duo in the october of 2003, and im using the same batteries in the keyboard.

The mouse needs to be charged every 2 days, so I just put it in the cradle before i go to sleep.

The mx duo is outdated now, thus you can find it for cheap. I highly recommend it.

Where did you get that sweet clock ????

It's from Radio Shack. :p

I've had it for quite a few years now, so I don't know if they still sell them or not.

Amen. It's very annoying.. can't Neowin block it?

I posted about this in Site and Forum Issues a little while back, I hared some good feedback, but I haven't heard or seen anything since - https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=280179&hl=

Well, I was looking at my old HP 466 MHz Celeron today, and realized I could sell it. Popped it open began taking off heatsink, removing things etc. Then I realized "Hey I wonder if could fit this mini atx in my old case." And yeah, it did surprisingly HP was not as proprietary as I originally took them as. So now my plan is, just get some cheap pc100 256, throw in it there. Along with a new heatsink for the celeron, and a new powersupply (powersupply will not fit at all in old Raidmax case), then put in my 2nd 40 gig HDD. Nothing big, just a downloading machine to sit next to my main rig. :D

Edit: Threw in my old GeForce 4 MX 420.

SRS is a type of fake surround sound for dual speakers and headphones that is supposed to trick your ears/brain into thinking sound is coming from all/most directions. It works on headphones especially well.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
    • CPPC states can also be messed around with in most UEFI settings but aren't as robust as the ones that the Windows Scheduler can provide! Make sure you look into what your motherboard also has before customizing for the Windows Scheduler.
