Water fell on laptop and doesnt turn on

Recommended Posts

Hey

Someone brought me a laptop and said that some water fell on it. He tried to turn it on again (plugged in and with the battery in, first mistake) and it wouldn't turn on.

On the "bright side", where the charging connector is, there is a light that lights up when the charging connecter is plugged in. That still lights up when I plug it in so thats a good sign

Im going to just drench it in rice for some days but any other ideas and/or thoughts?

So it is better if it is sealed?

How about "buried"?

Sealed so that the rice only sucks moisture from the laptop and not the air in the room

Don't think burying it will do much good

Personally I would dismantle it before putting it in with the rice

I have had several notebooks brought to me with similiar if not exactly the same problems.

Water, milk, cola, etc..

If it's not working and it's out of warranty, dismantle it. And clean every single piece of hardware.

99% work again in my cases!
