You might want to check with the Anti Phishing Working Group for stats on phishing. As far as malware (malicious software) like viruses goes, Virus Bulletin Magazine might be a good starting point. They are kind of the trade journal for the anti-malware industry.

How many people fall for phishing scams than for viral attacks?

You may want to think about that question because its not really a clear line always. Remember that many phishing attempts have the purpose of installing a virus/worm. Even the other way around, the phishing attempt may be to get a virus/worm installed. Would be interesting to see any stats on the overlap there.

phishing : An attempt to dupe a user into giving them information via a fake site that looks like the real one.

Computer virus : Malicious code running on a users machine.

Well the two are completely different.

One is designed to screw with your PC while the other is to get personal information out of you.
