GSP vs. Diaz is official for UFC 158.

The UFC announced Georges St-Pierre will defend his UFC welterweight title against Nick Diaz at UFC 158 on March 16 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The GSP title defense is just one of several welterweight matches that were announced Saturday night.

Rory MacDonald will try to avenge the lone loss of his MMA career when he squares off against Carlos Condit. MacDonald lost to Condit via third-round TKO at UFC 115 on June 12, 2010 in Vancouver.

Johny Hendricks, who voiced his displeasure with St-Pierre for wanting to fight Diaz next this past Monday on The MMA Hour, will battle Jake Ellenberger. Hendricks has won his five previous fights, including a 46-second knockout of Martin Kampmann in his last Octagon appearance at UFC 154, while Jake Ellenberger has won four of his previous five fights.

The last fight that was announced will be a rematch between Alessio Sakara and Patrick Cote. Cote got the win at UFC 154 when Sakara was disqualified for illegal strikes to the back of Cote's head.

I thought cry baby Diaz retired because he didn't get the title shot last time he fought?

He had his shot, he lost it, he got it back again and then he fought Penn due to both Condit and GSP being injured. He then lost to Condit and got suspended because he couldn't stop smoking weed during his training camp.

It's a big money fight. A canadian PPV card headlined by GSP against the only guy he has expressed some kind of "emotion" against since Serra? $$$$$$$$. Hendricks couldn't pull that off because he has no narrative, he's just an amazing fighter.

Every new PPV sways the balance of Sport vs Entertainment to the Entertainment side because the UFC is in it to make money.

  • 2 months later...
The two started by claiming respect for one another as fighters and opponents. Diaz attempted to explain that the reason he often comes off as angry is to garner the attention that he feels he doesn't get for his skill.

"I just think that I should be given the credit that I deserve and that GSP should be given the decorated opponent that he deserves, and I'm hardly that from the fans' perspective," said Diaz about his controversial title shot. "That makes me pretty angry. I think that Georges is going to appreciate that and I think he knows I'm the right guy to be in this position."

About 25 minutes into the call, a reporter asked St-Pierre if he felt he was "pampered," as Diaz had claimed. Diaz saw fit to answer, "I hope so, m$()@#*r!" he yelled. "If I had that much money, I'd be f$*&*% pampering myself the f%(*) up!"

"Let me tell you something, uneducated fool," responded the normally mild-mannered St-Pierre, once he was finally able to get in a word. "I've not always been rich. I started from the bottom and I worked very hard to be where I am right now."

Here is the complete card:

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

Reuben Duran vs. George Roop

TJ Dillashaw vs. Issei Tamura

Quinn Mulhern vs. Rick Story

PRELIMINARY CARD (FX)

Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi

Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller

Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins

Patrick C?t? vs. Bobby Voelker

MAIN CARD (PPV)

Colin Fletcher vs. Mike Ricci

Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring

Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt

Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks

Georges St-Pierre vs. Nick Diaz

Rick Story took quite a tumble from being on the Main Card to fighting on Facebook. That's especially harsh when they're putting a guy like Mike Ricci on the Main Card against Colin Fletcher, a battle of the last TUF season losers. Maybe he'll end up on the televised part of the event if he gets a nice finish.

I think it would be pretty funny if he didn't pass.

Imagine if, somehow, Nick Diaz beat GSP. He has just beaten the best WW fighter of all time, possibly the #2 P4P fighter of all time... and then he fails the goddamn drug test and it gets overturned to a NC.

That would be a catastrophe. Luckily for the UFC, GSP has said he will put a beating on him and will probably knoc... 50-45.

Did you guys buy your wolf tickets?

I had to look that up and what do you know

"Nick Diaz accuses Dana White and Georges St. Pierre of selling fans 'wolf tickets' to UFC 158"

But here's the funny part: "By Jesse Holland on Mar 14 2013, 4:20p"

OK, it's not THAT funny.

I guess I'm the only one that actually would like for Diaz to beat GSP, it would much things up nicely in the MMA world, of course GSP wins the rematch, and a tossup for the final fight, wouldn't care if Diaz or GSP were to win at that point

I looked it up on urban because it was new to me but the meaning is different. Funny stuff though. Nick is out there but I will always root for those fighters. War Diaz, youre pretty deep in gsps head. Hope it works out lol

For a challenger to pull an upset, especially one of this magnitude, it's always good for MMA since it shakes things up. Diaz has the tools to win, but Henderson and Condit have already shown that if you don't fight a Diaz's fight, they can't beat you. GSP can keep Nick at a distance with the jab, take him down and keep control, he just has to keep himself from getting boxed in against the cage.

not a big fan of GSP but heres hoping GSP keeps the belt so we can see GSP SILVA. Losing would totally destroy that match if it ever happened.

You're more likely to see GSP vs Silva if GSP loses the belt, so root for Diaz. If GSP loses his belt and it's dominant (no immediate rematch), he would be more easily persuaded to move up a weight class to fight Silva. If GSP keeps it and Hendricks beats Condit, Hendricks should have a shot at the title because he really deserves that change. And GSP would probably oblige him.

Not likely... Still, I hope we get to see a great fight.

I havn't watched the fight yet but I really wanted Nick to win since I have been a fan of his arrogance for quite some time now :D

Nick Diaz following UFC 158: 'I've never paid taxes in my life, I'm probably gonna go to jail'

You put 2 and 2 together and it seems pretty clear to me that Cesar Gracie is ripping Nick Diaz off big time seeing how he still struggles with his finances despite making >800K last year.

Also, next TUF season is being coached by Rousey vs the winner of Tate vs Zingano (most likely Tate). That's cool.

not watching.women fighting in the UFC is the stupidest thing ive ever seen. Its not showcasing talent. Its 2013 if i want to see ###### and ass I can use the internet,i don't have to wait for the UFC to show me ugly women hugging and jumping on each other. I mean Rousey has finished all her 9 fights in an armbar. No one has the ability to defend against an armbar? You'd think the last few opponents would really master defending that. It really shows the lack of talent in the womens division, and what kind of sideshow the UFC is putting on.

    • DXVK generally performs better on Linux (using Wine/Proton) than on Windows. Because Linux utilizes highly optimized, open-source Vulkan drivers (like RADV/ACO) that were specifically built for AMD Radeon hardware, the translation of Direct3D 9/11 to Vulkan is highly efficient. But if you take the trouble to watch my video, you can see that there are also advantages for Nvidia users. You see that I run Assassin's Creed Odyssey on 4GB RAM and on an i3-3240. What do you think are the minimum system requirements for windows11? For CPU-based rendering, Linux is generally faster than windows11 by about 15% due to lighter background overhead and efficient kernel scheduling.
