GeForce 310.70 WHQL claims impressive fps boast

Recommended Posts

I downloaded them last night but never got around to installing them. Was going to do so today. Will see if they are all they are cracked up to be.

Haven't these been out for a while? I installed them a few weeks back when I got my 680 (EVGA Classified)

In Beta probably yes, but official WHQL was definitely yesterday, Dec 17th. I tend to stick to WHQL myself these days so I know for certain it was yesterday. Congrats on the card BTW!

You are absolutely correct, this driver set is old. It was released as a WHQL candidate on December 4th and the exact same set was re-released yesterday WHQL certified.

How does nvidia keep improving performance of games? Are they coded kinda in a rush but then improve the drivers over time or what?

I'm not saying the gains are bad just I can't understand how they can keep improving the software to run faster :s

Tried it out this morning and had to downgrade, I could not get my monitor back to 1920X1200 it was maxed out at 1920X1080, kind of a weird issue, but my screen wasn't scaling correctly on top of that

Installed it on my 550TI since their site said it was the latest for it

Will test this when I get home on my GTX 650 Ti

i just ordered this card, but its not delivered yet.

does it use these drivers? its not listed in the pictures in the OP?

also what do you think of it? I bought the EVGA GTX650 Ti SuperSuperClocked

EDIT: nevermind, checked nvidia site, these drivers support loads of cards lol (im a noob to graphics cards)

Nvidia cards have universal drivers.

I don't know about your card; I got a Gigabyte GTC 650 Ti. Im very pleased with it.

Downloading those drivers now.

so what difference does the WHQL make/what does it mean?

They were tested and approved by MS. They will always be the same as one BETA version as one of the BETA builds would have had to have been sent to MS for approval. It is generally the latest BETA, but not always.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
