'Prometheus' sequel passed up by writer Damon Lindelof

Recommended Posts

Prometheus screenwriter Damon Lindelof has confirmed that he will not be involved in the movie's sequel.

The Lost creator, who redrafted Jon Spaihts's original script for the first film, said that potential scheduling prevented him from joining the project.

Lindelof recently worked on the screenplay for Star Trek Into Darkness and has a collaborative project with Brad Bird and a TV venture on the horizon.

"I'm usually very single-minded creatively. I can only be working on one thing at a time. So I said to [director Ridley Scott], 'I really don't think I could start working on this movie until I do this other stuff," he told Collider.

"And I don't know when the other stuff is going to be done'. And he was like, 'Well, okay, it's not like I asked you anyways'.

"He and I are on excellent terms and it was a dream come true to work with him. But much to the delight of all the fanboys, I don't see myself being involved in Prometheus-er."

Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are expected to reprise their roles for the Prometheus sequel, which is rumoured to be titled Paradise and arrive in either 2014 or 2015.

Would that be a prequel sequel? The movie industry is just getting silly these days. If a movie does halfway decent, it's a rush to copy it with another crappy sequel and use the success of the first to sell tickets to the second rather than going back and making a new good movie. But I wasn't much of a fan of the first one either, so I guess it doesn't really make a difference.

I liked the concept for Prometheus but the script was absolutely appalling - it seemed like a first draft by a college student. The characters were completely implausible and the way it shoved religion down your throat constantly was tedious and ham-handed. It's a shame as the cinematography was superb and the acting - especially by Fassbender - was generally very good (aside from the geologist character).

Fact - Prometheus was also called Paradise as a working title when the film was being made. Yeah, I watched all 3 hours of Behind the Scenes of Prometheus. I liked the movie for what it is.

A shallow propaganda piece, like many of Ridley Scott's films?

When you create movies sometimes you need to kiss ass to achieve certain things. To call "many" of Scotts movies propaganda pieces is a bit of a stretch.

The movie had to go through the DoD for Scott to be able to make this, meaning that the script has to be favourable towards the army as you already know. Otherwise he just simply wouldn't have had access to free assets and locations which might otherwise prove unobtainable.

Michael Bay doesn't exactly use rocket science to produce his .. movies.

Personally I cannot think of many US army movies that are not "propaganda" pieces.

Good, his script was bloody woeful. There were more holes in the plot than a sieve. Lindelof just seemed to put cool scenes in while completely disregarding any kind of plot arcs or continuity, just like he did in Lost. I think he's a garbage writer to be honest.

Which results in a pro-US military propaganda piece. The US military should have ZERO influence in movie scripts and shouldn't be subsidising favourable movies. It's propaganda.

How do you imagine this could happen? .. in this world.

Edit: I do agree with you. It should not be the way it is.. sadly that is a big topic and we cannot really do much about it.

I have to agree.

What a surprise, a movie where thinking and open mindness are a necessity, and you didn't get it. It wasn't the usual Hollywood here's the plot at the beginning with the predictable end and all the brain dead types pan it for being smart, yet you're usually the first one whinging about how crap most movies are, including the super smart ones

You linked to a Socialist web site, any point you might have thought you were making is void and null, come back with a smart response next time puppet

This movie was anything but smart.

    • Hello, I am not as familiar with AMD CPUs as I am with Intel's, but as I understand it, that's a mid-range CPU from about three years ago.  I would think it to be fine for everyday casual-type use.  A larger SSD might be better, but with storage prices these days that's a decision that has to be carefully thought about. • Ocenaudio 3.19.5 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display. Ocenaudio 3.19.5 changelog: Fixes crashes related to audio devices on Windows (DirectSound and ASIO) Fixes several crashes and memory corruption issues Fixes opening several headerless files at once, which previously dropped all but one Improves batch export by suggesting and remembering the destination folder Fixes accented and non-Latin characters in VST plug-in and compressed-archive file names Adds zstd compression support and updates the archive library Other bug fixes and improvements Download: Ocenaudio 64-bit | Portable | ~40.0 MB (Freeware) Download: Ocenaudio for Linux and Mac OS View: Ocenaudio Homepage | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
