Friend washed my jeans and damaged everything in the pockets

Recommended Posts

Was at my friends place and she gave me $100 and I said that I would pay it back. Well, she took my jeans and wash them with out telling me. I was wearing shorts at the time. Well I had my wallet and Bose headphone in the pocket and everything in the wallet is all mess up and Bose headphone does not work anymore. The Bose cost $99 which I got a few months ago. She said that it's my fault for keeping my stuff in my pant and I should have known to take them out before she wash them even though I didn't know she was going to wash my jeans. Only shirts.

Should I pay her $100 that I owe her or because she wash my jeans without checking the pockets that we were even.

Does she normally do your laundry, but you just weren't expecting it this time?

No, I was staying there for a few days. Never got my cloths wash but would have think if she was going to wash jeans that you look at the pockets. More so if you don't live there.

Fact is, you still owe her $100, and she owes you a replacement headphones. 2 Separate claims, you guys need to work something out mutually.

Question, how do you fit $100 headphones into the pockets of Jeans, and secondly, how does someone not notice them in the pockets, they have to be rather large, no?

if the situation is EXCATLY as describing, give her $50 and call it even. But if she actually asked you if you wanted your clothes washed and you said yes, then its all on you, pay her the $100.

If I were in your situation, it would all come down to how reasonable my friend is willing to be. I try not to be a selfish person, and if they're reasonable about it, I would probably pay back the full $100 and forget the whole situation. But if not, then I would insist on some sort of compromise, where I only pay back part of what I owed. And if she's a downright bitch, well...

Regardless of what you choose to do, learn this lesson: Always insist on doing your own laundry.

Give her the money you owe her. Then your debt is paid up. And now, she is in debt to you for the device she ruined. So, she needs to make it up to you. If she refuses to pay, you know she's not a friend.

So, let me make sure I've got this right. She's letting you stay at her house, she leant you $100, she wanted to be even nicer than she was being already by washing your ****, and you're upset that she accidentally ruined some headphones? If that's true, wow...

I spend about $150 of food and drinks at her place.

Talk to her... Tell her what happened and what she thinks about making a deal with you... You pay 50 bucks and you're both even.

If she does not like the deal, then you say you won't pay her the 100 bucks, nor the 50 bucks.

But... If her friendship is important to you, then shut up and give her all the money and then you see if you paid her to end the friendship or to keep it strong. Either way, 100 bucks won't kill you and this is the time when we get to know our real friends.

Cut her some slack, give her the $100 and treat it like you lost them yourself. It's annoying to lose something expensive, but since it's your friend, just accept it as a mistake. It's called friendship, and mistakes are allowed. She didn't crash your car or steal your wallet :)

Probably pretty easy considering that Apple iPhone/iPod earbuds cost 80 bucks (the ones with inline remote/mic), and I'd imagine BOSE would be way better.

A lot of earphones/earbuds actually have separate tweeter, midrange and bass speakers in them too, making them quite expensive.

maybe now on top of the $100 you borrowed...she'll now charge you a few days rent....

True. She was nice to him. I changed my mind.

@op. : pay her what you own and show her that she destroyed 100 bucks worth of earphones. Laugh of the situation and you're done. If she thinks she has to give you back any money, good for you. Or you guys can spend it together another day.

    • So, recently, I saw on the news (yes, on this website) that Samsung is introducing features where it can provide education using AI-powered sets, and because of this, I got concerned about whether the AI gives out wrong info during education sessions, causing controversies in the process. What are your thoughts on this?
    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended.
