Why 'use fast user switching' doesn't work?

Huh. When you click the switch user button what do you see? Do you even see the switch user option or do you just get a log off dialog box?

If you dont see the fast user switching button then click:

Start>User diplay pic>Home>Change the way users log on and off>Check the enable fast user switching box>apply options> your done (Y)

edit: Oops i read wrong. Ah well sorry i cant solve your problem other then you are low on disk space or ram ? meh i dunno :) :whistle:

If you are in a "domain" environment, FUS won't work...

fast user switching service must be on, be sure to check what other services it depends on and start those up too.

And also the only difference you will notice is that apps arent closed on the account of which you signed off. As nkmhockey stated, check your services menu. :)

Also, gpedit.msc (XP Pro only) has a setting to force the classic login, even though you set it otherwise in the User Accounts applet. You can check by running gpedit.msc, expand Administrative Templates that's under the Computer Configuration section, expand System, click Logon and change "Always use classic logon" to Not Configured.
