Video game genres you simply don't like?

never understood Sports games beside racing... as for everything else BRING IT ON :D

Yeah, to me video games are about simulating a fantasy experience that you otherwise cannot do.

Want to go slay dragons? Do it in a video game.

Want to shoot aliens in space? Do it in a video game.

Want to play football? Go outside and play freaking football.

yeah not sure how people get so into them. like WOW.

also fast paced arcade fps games i cant stand, like any COD games especially black ops.

but i love bf3 :p

Never got into sportingsgames (baseball, basketball, etc), would rather play those in real life. also not into racing, or fighting games either.

People get into those because the game rewards you for playing. Easy time invested in something = easy reward at the end. Same with life but people struggle more with life.

I played the legend of Zelda series, MMORPG, racing (not much), Star Wars series, Super Mario Bros series, and anime RPG video games like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and others. they are coolest to fun for me.

you are right!

MORPGs or whatever they're called. where you just do the same crap over and over to collect EXP and level up.

Repetitive.

Also games like THE SIMs really bore me.

I despise them too!!! I first thought I didn't like them for no legitimate reason and because I was young and silly,

After years and years, I am 100% I do not like RPGs, MMOs, MORPGS or whatever they're called these days >.<!

There are only about 1500 active players on NFL rosters. I would say it is something that fulls under "otherwise cannot do," especially for us older folks. Not a fair comparison there.

What is wrong with me roleplaying the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins? :(

I have to ask, considering your Green Bay logo. Do you play Madden?

I have, but that isn't my favourite type of game either and it's been a long time--I like RPG, FPS, platformers/Mario games, and racing games.

I have to ask, considering your avatar is Ryan Tannehill, do you? :laugh:

But of course! (Tannehill is going to be great, you will see! :p)

Was just wondering, because I don't have many friends other than one who plays. (Madden 13) It'd be nice to have others to play with, that I somewhat know from time to time.

Haha, will he now? Jury's still out ;)

Hmm, my best friend plays, I'm not sure if he picked up '13 or not though. I can ask him, if you're at all interested. He's a massive Niners fan :)

MMO games - dull grind, level up, dull grind.... (This kind of summed it up for me - Once I came home and my flatmate said 'I've been fishing all day' and I asked him how it was, weather, what was biting etc. (we lived near a lake at the time) and he then said he was fishing in WoW, sitting by a virtual pond for ages to get some points? Each to his own, but I'd rather just go fishing)

Sports games.

Also what I call 'dragony' games - Skyrim, Oblivion etc - not keen on fantasy stuff generally, so not just a gaming dislike more of a genre dislike.

Sports (Excluding Racing), RTS and FPS. Far too many games that are (to me) exactly the damn same. There are of course exceptions, some games try to be different and usually are enjoyable for that; Eufloria HD comes to mind.

Generally, it's rare for me to like a game of any genre if it doesn't satisfy my inner graphics "realism" wh0re. So...

* Indies (any kind whatsoever)

The big craze of most people for some time now. You know, unique style, refreshing ideas, innovative gameplay... but doesn't feed the wh0re. And so it happens that it forms the basement of the big pyramid of things I dislike. Pfffffrrrrrrr...

* Platformers, puzzle, hidden object, arcades, fighting, browser games, card games, fruit slashers, most mobile games, casuals, trivials, Wii-crap

Except Chess and Battleships, because they were the very first games l learned to play. And some point-and-click adventure exceptions. And I did play OGame hard-core some years ago. Because I overheated my laptop's video card, couldn't afford repairs/new and so it happened that such browser games and catch-the-cursor were the only games I could play. But they also require total commitment (and financial investments) day and night lest people who do have so much free time and monies mercilessly lay waste. The rest, the endless amount of copycrap - I can't even figure out why people bother... pffffrrrrrrr, into the pyramid they go.

* Zombies/"horror" (not a genre per se... or is it these days?)

I won't even consider taking up anything that has zombies as the core theme. Zombies work well enough as one of enemy types, but not the core thing. And faux horror sucks and carnage for the sake of it... pfffffffrrrrrrrrr! Pffffrrrrrrrr!

* MMO anything

I'm not big on socialising, even virtual, whatsoever, but I've looked into some MMOs to broaden the scope. In RPGs there's some interesting character building mechanics, customization and all, but games themselves end up being mashup of everything you can imagine (but nothing you can't imagine), and gathering of twenty bear asses in a world utterly disconnected from whatever it wants to portray. And the social aspect is like a Facebook full of zombies. No, that's not a double negative. Pffffrrr, into the pyramid they go.

I kind of admire EVE Online, though, it seems different, interesting, a living organism. But most likely not for me either.

* Sims, construction, watching paint dry

Used to play with dolls and cardboard houses when I was a little kid. Kept some of the immaturity, grown out of the rest. Pfffrrrrr...

* Strategies, tower defense

I just suck at strategic thinking. Even though I did play Dune 2000 and Emperor a lot back in the days. Badly.

* JRPGs

Can't stand Japanese culture in the slightest. Sorry.

* Sports

Pfffrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

* Racing sims

They're too damn hard, probably even realistic, and buying all the necessary equipment is too much to ask from me.

* Hack-and-slash ARPGs

Most. Including Elder Scrolls.

Is there anything left at this point that I actually like? Yes, three things - modern Fallout 3/NV (because I'm wired that way), Bioware classics (because story) and spunkgargleweewee FPS (because graphics). And some exceptions, because sometimes it just "clicks" (it's very confusing, but hey...). And some racers. And GTA. And that's it.

Edit: Wow, that ended up way too long...

Can't say "dont like" for me it's simply "Just wont play", that would be sports games basically.

Just won't play because you don't like? :s

Edit: Wow, that ended up way too long...

lol. Do you even like video games?

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
