ramzorz
If the computer starts up fine, it sounds like some of your hardware may be overheating. Does the laptop get very hot? Can you post some temperatures?
Craig Hopson
How would i find out temps it does get hot and the fan runs fast but i just found out that firefox was running very slow (been on for 4hours) so switch to IE and it run up just fine FAST so maybe its just firefox that has problems??? Craig Hopson
it would appear to be just firefox (i should have checked this before posting here sorry) OK it is just firefox when i leave firefox open just on google.com laptop lid closed (screen off but awake) after 8 hours fan still running slow if i close firefox fan stops after 30min Using firefox after 10min fan fast after 1 hour things slowing down 4 hours slowing to a stop for upto 10 seconds thanks
ramzorz
If you want to take the easy route, reinstall Firefox. I know it might be a pain, but it'll be a lot easier and faster to do that than to pin point the exact reason as to why Firefox is running slowly. If I'm not mistaken, all of your bookmarks and such should still be there when you re-install, but don't quote me on that.

08993
As others have stated the Firefox profile is smothering the disk io - maybe consider moving the Firefox profile to a ramdisk. If you google "firefox profile ramdisk" you'll see loads of different ways of setting it up.

Hum
Maybe the CPU/drive/RAM isn't getting properly cooled. Elevate the back end, or get an underneath cooling stand with fans. Example: http://www.buy.com/p.../215744645.html Exchange the laptop for a replacement or, Install Windows 7. All I can think of.
