I'm not sure, I think the stock monitor will simply recalibrate itself, once you've gone a few charge cycles, my s3 is completely stock (but that's because I never needed more than it had to offer, I use most of it, email, planner, maps etc...)

You could try disabling it, or uninstalling it, but if you paid for it, please make sure you can redownload before you do.

Do you still get 3 days standby? (or linger, if like me, you turn it off when asleep?)

edit 'linger' was meant to be longer

well it's at 56% now and im way over a day after the last charge I'll post back when the battery is redlining.

Ok i managed to drain the battery and this is what it was at before it went off

and this is what it was at when fully charged

are there any non root apps that can recalibrate the battery or do i just get a new one?

Erm... isnt the time shown the amount of time since the phone was taken off the charger, not the amount of time left in the battery???

Yes. However it's amusing watching them try to figure out why their battery only has 7mins left on a 100% charge ;)

Edit: I figured I'd at least be a little helpful after laughing.

I wouldn't bother using any apps to calibrate. The easiest way to calibrate your battery is to allow it to fully discharged (until it turns itself off), then plug in the charger but leave the phone off. Charge it 100% while the phone is off. When it hits 100%, unplug it and turn it on. This re-calibrates the battery. This is not something you should do often. It's actually quite rare that your battery will need calibration but this should be done at least once and highly recommended within the first few days of owning the phone (first thing I do with every new phone).

If you'd like to know how much time you have left on your battery, there a ton of apps that will show you this. Most of them are pretty accurate. Be careful of any of the overly bloated apps that do this as they'll just eat your battery anyway.

Ok so as of late my new Galaxy S3's battery status has been showing some rather short times (see image) do some Samsung batteries go bad early or is this an issue with something else?

As per the screenshot, I'm assuming you are on Jellybean? In that case, its known media scanner bug of Jellybean which has been fixed on 4.2

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
