GNU / Linux February 2013 Desktops

Recommended Posts

Went back to Debian so I could actually use the proprietary AMD drivers for my video card.

OS: Debian Linux 6 (64 bit)

DE: Gnome 2.30.2

Wallpaper: Photo I took of the woods behind our house

Icons: Faenza Wolfe Debian (http://gnome-look.or...?content=140951)

Window Borders: Ordinary (http://gnome-look.or...?content=127948)

On a side note, has anybody gotten Steam working on anything other than Ubuntu? I'm not much having much luck installing Steam on Debian 6, although it is nice to play some of my non Steam games with all the particle effects turned on and at a resolution higher than 640x480, :-)

Edit: Will get you a screenshot as soon as Neowin decides to stop saying "Upload failed".

Resized it and put it on photobucket.

I have Steam working on Debian 7 (using this guide); I'm not sure if it will work on Debian 6. Although its still in release freeze, Debian 7 is very stable and the proprietary AMD graphics drivers work properly. If you want to use GNOME 2 with it, check out the instructions for Wheezy on the MATE wiki.

Arch Linux

Nothing much changed since last screenshot.

I'm using Zukitwo theme, Zekton fonts, Adwaita icon set, and a wallpaper I found in one of the GNU/Linux desktops topics.

Everything else is on the shot :) I'm using archey2 for this sysinfo.

    • Not sure what country you’re in but in many countries you can absolutely jail the sellers behind businesses… in fact I’d say in most countries you can do that
    • I guess we are done since you refuse to read my comment you replied to or my other comment in another thread you were also a part of here.
    • I hate Slack, but Teams is much worse - maybe they've already optimized it, but it was a huge slog the last time I've checked about half a year ago. I miss my Skype.
    • Just ended up switching to Ubuntu. Not sure why I waited.
