Geil ddr400 is crap!

Recommended Posts

well i have here a stick of geil dd400 512 mb memory and i have to say it is the ****iest memory i have ever seen. I can get it to run well at ddr333 but once i set it to 400 it goes nuts, crashes windows, and get tons of memtest errors. ive tried everything from upping the voltage a little to slowing it down a little but its crap. anyone else have problems with it? anyone find a solution?

I seriously don't want to sound like a troll buy seriously...

Don't buy Geil..

If you think its not working well, return it if possible. Try OCZ, Kingston or Corsair.

i have geil ddr433 512mb, runs fine for almost 1 yr now. hey did u increase the ram voltage? somtimes i think u need to do that when u've enabled Enhance DRAM Performance in BIOS.

Geil RAM is notorious for causing problems on nForce2 Chipset boards. Looks like you have come across one of the known issues :)

Upping the RAM voltage to 2.7v or 2.8v will eliminate all the issues that you are having. One of my test rigs at work is an MSI K7N2G-ILSR running 512MB DDR400 Geil at 2.7v (the highest the board will do) and it is fine.

Or you could just get rid and go for Corsair but the Geil should be fine.
