Need help with a program for downloading video and converting

Question

Hi, Dr. Oz last week on his show showed off some products that are made by the company I work for.

I went to his website and using the program Freemake Video Downloader copied the URL and pasted but it always says Not Supported Website.

I have always been able to use this fine program for video download and conversion. Now I cant.

Here is the link: http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/dr-oz-answers-your-most-awkward-questions-all-time?video=17035

It would help us if we had this video to show off and show consumers that even Dr. Oz uses Sweat Protection.

If there is a better alternative for downloading video and converting please let me know..

Thank you

EDIT: I am able to get this video just fine, as I post, converting it to mpeg format. 3.2.1 version of Freemake video converter.

What is the format ?

Do you have the latest version of Freemake program ? (there was an Update in January 2013)

There are other versions at Freemake to d/l videos also.

Ghostery blocks the video and looking at the page source it seems it has some advert from http://ad.doubleclick.net - could be you are telling your downloader to grab the ad before the video ?

EDIT - Even the tracking blockers in IE block it

Thanks for quick reply. The format of the video is unknown. I assume flash based video.

Detection you may be correct but I don't know for sure. All I have done is paste the url as is: http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/dr-oz-answers-your-most-awkward-questions-all-time?video=17035

I have Freemake 2.2.0.3

It seems I am very behind. More than a version just downloading now..

I've looked through the page source and I can only find URLs starting with the ad.doubleclick

If you want to check it yourself, right click the page and choose 'View Source' or 'View Page Source' - you might spot the actual video URL if I've missed it

I've done a search for .flv, .swf, .avi, .mp4, .mpg, etc etc and the searcher can not find any of them

I installed the latest version of Freemake and now there is no error. It just asks to play the video and then it will try to download but no such luck yet.

Thanks for your help though. I appreciate it

Have a clean (unmodified) HOSTS file and a clean (no extensions) Firefox.

Install:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

If it doesn't pick it up, just use a screen capture program (CamStudio, Camtasia, SnagIt and so on) and capture it.

I used that URL, and pasted it, clicking on the paste URL button.

The rest was automatic.

Are you in the USA ?

I am on Firefox, if that makes a difference.

Internet Download Manager can download anything from any website.

doesn't download webex streamed content that plays in a webex player. Need a screen capture program that can do video like snagit.

I am in USA. Will try the Firefox suggestion also as well as the screen capture tools.

Thanks again to everyone for the fast replies. Got to love Neowin

Just wanted to post one last time on this topic. Thanks to all that suggested and helped me.

The Firefox plugin and Snagit were the ones that worked. The plugin works but the file size is very big so in the end I used Snagit which is fantastic software. Small size and works just right. I then imported into Camtasia and proceeded to customize it. Very cool software indeed. Will probably post the video sometime today
