any ideas on how i could add the windows flag (the cool one from the screenshot) to the menu? I tried, but Windows stretches the background image. maybe if i enlarged the background image of the bar?

you also have to set the sizing margins outside of the flag itself of it will get stretched so size it on one side or the other or the top of bottom

how would i do that? also, in the logoff area, how do i change it from turn off computer to just turn off?

Using reshacker. It's really easy, just can't remember the file you need to edit :) I'm sure it'll come to me, or someone will post..

ok, the turn off problem is solved, but i still cant figure out the flag thing. here's what the 'theme' is looking like now. i'm starting to give up on trying to copy the screenshot, i just want to turn it into a really nice theme. (oh, and i can't, well wont, install stylebuilder because you have to have style xp, and that screwed my comp last time)

They will also be in the transformation pack when WindowsX finishes it

Windows X thinks its ugly cos he cant stand his themes being out of the limelite...

slate is olllld news anyways...

He thinks its Ugly cuz it is UGLY :p

but there seems to be lots of interest in the longhorn styles so he makes that fantastic transformation pack!

And has nothing to do with being in the limelite, he just doesnt see the point in doing things twice which is what it ammounts to if he and I are both doing the same style ..

He and I correspond and collaborate on longhorn styles and as a rule I try not to step on his toes by doing my own longhorn styles or at least advertising them here in neowin.

however i had not even seen that crappy screenshot of the dark aero startmenu till this topic was started (im not a big fan of the way longhorns gui is headding so i try to ignore it)

but that black startmenu got me thinking it so ugly by itself that it almost had to be designed to have the transparency effect in mind, thats why i put this one out .. its an excersize in designing a style for desktop transparency!

the next step would be to actually design a style with transparency in mind that actually looks really good :D

Anyway I seperated the slate/aero style from my big slate style so this little concept style is now by itself in a nice small download

also changed out the logoff and shutdown buttons for round ones like the screehshots

it is possible for you to add up both the "LonghornPDC" and " LonghornPDCAero" in one big theme?i like the start menu of Aero but i like the windows shell style of indigo...so it would be great if u can put up all of tht in 1 theme pack, as off i use aero one but i dnt got tht indego shell style...

thnx!,

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
